Defense Propels Terrapins in Opener
As a gathering of media members waited outside the Maryland locker room after a season opener that ended much better than it began for the Terrapins last night, Joe Harrington, the team's director of student-athlete services, stuck his head out of the halfway-open door and asked a reporter about a game that took place several states away. 'Did Kentucky lose tonight?' Harrington asked.
When informed that the Wildcats had in fact lost at home to Virginia Military Institute, Harrington smiled. 'Oh, goodness,' he said before ducking back inside the locker room. 'Well, we didn't lose. We didn't lose.'
