Hoyas cruise through first round again

* No. 2 Georgetown 66, No. 15 Maryland Baltimore County 47: Unlike No. 2-seeded Tennessee and Duke, the Hoyas (28-5) had a relatively easy time throughout en route to their 18th win in the last 19 first-round games. The Hoyas shot 51%, held the Retrievers (24-9) to 32% shooting and kept them scoreless for a seven-minute stretch of the first half at Raleigh, N.C. The Hoyas held leading scorer Ray Barbosa to six points -- nearly 11 below his average -- on two-of-11 shooting. * No. 12 Villanova 75, No. 5 Clemson 69: Scottie Reynolds and Corey Fisher kept the upset streak intact at Tampa, Fla., by helping the Wildcats (21-12) defeat the Tigers (24-10). Reynolds scored 21 points and Fisher added 17. Villanova, which has more wins as a lower-seeded team in the tournament than any program since 1979, followed upset victories by Western Kentucky (over Drake), San Diego (over Connecticut) and Siena (over Vanderbilt) at Tampa. * No. 10 Davidson 82, No. 7 Gonzaga 76: It took 39 years, but the Wildcats are back as a player in the NCAA tournament, thanks to a dynamic guard with a magic touch that none of the big teams wanted. Stephen Curry scored 30 of his 40 points in the second half and made the tie-breaking three-point basket with just over a minute left. Displaying his lightning-quick release, Curry made eight of 10 three-pointers. His two free throws with 14.5 seconds left clinched the win over the Bulldogs (25-8).
