<![CDATA[CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - The 20th annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament is just five weeks away. This year's edition will be held Saturday, May 10, at Kentucky Lake, with registration and boat launching from Paris Landing State Park. The tournament will benefit Austin Peay athletics. Twelve thousand dollars in prize money will be awarded, with a guaranteed first-place prize of $5,000. Second-place is guaranteed $1,500. Third and fourth place will receive $1,000 and $600, respectively. The top 25 places will receive prizes. Each individual entering the tournament has the opportunity to win as-of-yet unannounced grand door prize, with other door prizes also to be awarded. The tourney will begin 6 a.m., May 10, although all contestants must be checked in between 4-5:30 a.m., with a mandatory meeting on the water at 5:45 a.m. Preregistration entry fee is $110 per boat (two people per boat), or $125 after noon, Friday, May 9. CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Austin Peay State University's softball team will begin a eight-game homestand this weekend as it plays host to Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech for a pair of Ohio Valley Conference doubleheaders at Cheryl Holt Field. The Lady Govs' (16-18, 5-4 OVC) weekend begins noon Saturday with a doubleheader versus OVC East Division leader Jacksonville State (24-9, 8-2 OVC), while Tennessee Tech (10-28, 2-8 OVC) comes in for a noon Sunday doubleheader. Offensively, through 34 games, senior Lauren de Castro leads the Lady Govs with a .400 batting average, including seven doubles and five home runs. She also leads the team with 21 RBI. After a slow start this season, senior Kayla Davidson has seen her batting average approach .300, entering the weekend hitting at a .287 clip with nine doubles, a triple and three home runs. She has 20 RBI. The Gamecocks enter the weekend paced by the OVC's leading hitter, Sara Barders, and her .451 batting average that includes nine doubles, a triple and nine home runs. She has a team-best 32 RBI. Taylor Sloan (.353), Amanda Maldonado (.342), Kalee Tabor (.330) and Ella Denes (.314) are also hitting more than .300 for Jacksonville State. In the circle, de Castro tops the Lady Govs pitching staff with an 11-6 win-loss mark and a 3.17 ERA. She has struck out 71 batters in 95 inning of work this season. A pair of freshmen, Sidney Hooper (3-4, 5.25 ERA) and Brianna Bartuccio (2-7, 6.30 ERA), have the other APSU wins this season. Tiffany Harbin leads JSU pitchers with a 9-5 record and an ERA of 2.96. She has recorded 101 strikeouts in just 85 innings pitched this season.
