Ravens release ex-Fsu QB Lee, two others
The Ravens released three undrafted rookie free agents today, including Xavier Lee, the former Florida State quarterback who was trying to make the transition to tight end.
The team also waived guard Brandon Barnes of Grand Valley State and punter Benjamin Dato of Fordham.
At Florida State, Lee went from one of the top recruits in the class of 2004 to one of the biggest busts in school history. He threw for 98 touchdowns and more than 9,000 yards in high school in Daytona Beach but started just six games - only two of them wins - for the Seminoles.
The Ravens released tight end Xavier Lee, guard Brandon Barnes and punter Benajmin Dato, trimming their roster by three with less than a month before teams must get below the NFL-mandated limit of 80 players.

Former FSU Quarterback Hopes For NFL Career
One-time Florida State University quarterback Xavier Lee is hoping for an NFL career as a tight end.
Lee was considered one of the top recruits at quarterback in 2004 after a stellar career in high school, but he started only six games for the Seminoles and was suspended twice for missing classes.
The Baltimore Ravens signed him this spring as a rookie free agent. Coach John Harbaugh says Lee is making progress but has a long way to go to make it as an NFL tight end.
