Mike London knew the challenge coming into Charlottesville. The former head coach of the University of Richmond had two previous stints at Virginia before becoming the eventual successor to Al Groh after nine tumultuous seasons.A He understands the culture and he recognizes the expectations upon him.

Poindexter Will Be Recognized For Career

Wherever he goes in Charlottesville, Anthony Poindexter is still remembered for his standout career as a Virginia safety from 1995 to 1998. Fans stop him to praise the famed play when he stood up Florida State running back Warrick Dunn at the goal line in 1995, finalizing a 33-28 win over the Seminoles and handing Florida State its first-ever ACC loss.

On Saturday, Poindexter's legacy will be enhanced when his No. 3 will be honored 20 minutes before the game against Indiana. Six numbers have been retired, but Poindexter will join a group of 10 other players whose numbers are active but still honored. Quarterback Riko Smalls and place kicker Robert Randolph both wear No. 3 on this year's team.
