Clemson's Ray Ray McElrathbey said he's transferring to Howard. McElrathbey is the football player who earned accolades for taking custody of his younger brother while going to college.

Former Clemson running back Ray Ray McElrathbey might have interest in transferring to Jacksonville State, The Birmingham News reported.

Former Louisiana State quarterback Ryan Perrilloux made it official Wednesday, announcing that he would be transferring to I-AA Jacksonville State , where he will be eligible to play this fall. via The Wizard of Odds

CLEMSON -- After Clemson's second spring scrimmage last year, kicker Richard Jackson described his performance as embarrassing.

This time around, Jackson is slightly more optimistic if not as self-deprecating.

'I haven't been thrown to the back (of the line in practice), so I guess I'm still pushing the starters a little bit,' Jackson said.

Coach Tommy Bowden contends Jackson, a rising redshirt sophomore, is challenging a pair of senior incumbents -- kicker Mark Buchholz and punter Jimmy Maners -- for their jobs. Read more

Two days after the school announced McElrathbey would either transfer or go to Clemson graduate school as a student only, coach Tommy Bowden declined to shed further light on McElrathbey's case.

CLEMSON -- There have been times Clemson running back Ray Ray McElrathbey resented that his celebrity had nothing to do with his football career.

Sensing the latter was traveling down a dead-end, McElrathbey has decided to pursue another route.

McElrathbey has left the Tigers, the school announced Saturday.

The rising redshirt sophomore is scheduled to graduate in August, at which time he plans to either enroll in Clemson's graduate school or transfer to play elsewhere.

Running back James Davis, a fellow Atlanta native and close friend, believes McElrathbey is leaning toward playing elsewhere based on their conversations. Read more
