BLACKSBURG, VA. -- In recent weeks, Virginia Tech guard Malcolm Delaney said that something with his shot did not feel right. And because the Hokies had played each of their previous four games away from home, he was unable to put in the extra gym time.
Delaney came early to each practice during the week and worked out for 20 minutes with Coach Seth Greenberg on Saturday. On Sunday, Delaney showed that the hard work paid off with the third 30-point game of his career in the Hokies' 74-62 win over Georgia at Cassell Coliseum.

Hokies go back to 'defense first'
BLACKSBURG, VA. -- Persecution complexes are common around ACC basketball programs that lack fabled pedigrees, but Virginia Tech Coach Seth Greenberg is hoping to use his to motivate his team's play on the court.
Last season, the Hokies missed the NCAA tournament for the second straight year, in large part because of defensive breakdowns, particularly late in games. This season, Greenberg has stressed a return to a defense-first approach, playing with 'a chip' when the opponent has the ball.
Allen, 6-foot-7, was the No. 3 scorer at slightly under 14 points a game and hauled in better than eight rebounds.
