KSU coach Martin lauds Beasley
Frank Martin finished his day of summer basketball camp Monday by hopping on a plane and flying to Lincoln for a meet-and-greet with Kansas State fans.

K-State's future won't include Hoskins
During Kansas State's NCAA Tournament trek to Omaha, David Hoskins was just a spectator, unable to place weight on his left leg.
Jordan Henriquez, a 6-foot-11, 220-pound center from Port Chester High, signed a national letter of intent last week to attend Kansas State, the athletic department announced Tuesday.
David Hoskins won't be coming back. And barring an injury in the next three weeks, you can say the same about Bill Walker.

“Let's be honest here, who showed our freshmen the way?”
Watch out.
Kansas State recaptured some magic Thursday night, 'upsetting' No. 6 seed Southern California in the first round of the NCAA Midwest Regional.
Notice the quotation marks. They're there because it wasn't an upset at all. K-State, seeded 11th, whipped the Trojans from start to finish, except for a USC flurry in the second half that gave the Trojans a brief one-point lead and false hope.
After an O.J. Mayo steal and layup gave Southern Cal only its second lead, 49-48 with 12:40 remaining, K-State went on a big run to take back control. And here's the really good part. It wasn't all about star freshman Michael Beasley or his main sidekick, Bill Walker. Read more

“I thought he was going to do a rap”
First half
** Key play: No surprise here. Michael Beasley showcased his athletic side, tipping a rebound to himself while his feet were off the floor, and in one motion while still up in the air, tossed in a short jumper.
** Key stat: 0-4. Three-point field goal defense has caused K-State many woes as of late, but the Wildcats held Colorado scoreless in four attempts from that range.
Second half
** Key play: Colorado fought back, got within four, and misfired on a three-point shot by Levi Knutson that could've made it a one-point difference with 11 minutes left. K-State's Bill Walker made it a six-point swing on the change of possession with a three-point play that kept the Buffaloes at a distance. Read more
Foul trouble plagues Walker, again
“If you're not going to stay four years, you need to go. The pro game is different. He can learn right away. He's powerful enough, and he is a very talented young man.”

“We're family -- we're not a basketball team. We're brothers.... We are just one big family.”
For someone who insisted following an 82-61 rout of Oklahoma State that he didn't care about winning right now, Kansas State coach Frank Martin worked awfully hard Saturday.
But that wasn't the reason why he said, almost in a whisper an hour after the final buzzer, 'I'm tired.'
'One of ours was down,' Martin said. 'To me, that was the only thing that matters.'
