Grand jury to determine whether Tony Stewart faces charges

The District Attorney for Ontario County, N.Y., said Tuesday he is submitting evidence to a grand jury from the investigation into the fatal sprint car crash involving NASCAR driver Tony Stewart and Kevin Ward Jr. On Aug. 9 at Canandaigua Motorsports Park, Stewart struck and killed the 20-year-old Ward, whose car had gotten entangled with Stewart's, then spun out and crashed. Ward climbed out of his crippled car and walked onto the track into oncoming race traffic to confront Stewart when he was struck and killed by the right rear wheel of Stewart's car.

Historic Ponce Inlet motorsports restaurant reopens

After being closed for repairs for two months, one of the most iconic locations in Volusia County motorsports history is set to reopen today. In July, an early morning kitchen fire shut down Racing's North Turn Beach Bar & Grille at 4511 S. Atlantic Ave. The restaurant will be ready to welcome customers through its doors again at 11 a.m. The restaurant sits where cars used to turn from what is now State Road A1A onto the beach and head north on the sand to complete a 4.1-mile loop before the stock car race now known as the Daytona 500 was moved to Daytona International Speedway in 1959.
