Worth the wait: Jeff Gordon, team finally capitalizing on potential

The Jeff Gordon the public sees is one of a 43-year-old driver who has nearly 22 years of Cup experience and depends on that experience - four Cup championships and 91 career victories - to lift him above the rest. But there's a behind-the-scenes Gordon, as well: the one who still watches Nationwide races, the one who has come to the shop more often than in the past, the one fully engaged with his crew chief as far as generating ideas to make the car go faster.

Baseball: Ending PED testing will give sport a boost

The Red Sox have already been held to one hit three times this season, Ben Revere is leading the National League in hitting at .316 - which could be the lowest batting title average since Tony Gwynn 's .313 in 1988 - and the Braves scored one run in 37 innings from Aug. 30 to Sept. 3. Personally, I'm sick of watching ground balls into the shift and batters working the count full because walks are the only possible way they have to reach base.
