I think the place is a very unlikely cultural touchstone. I'm only 23 years old, and when I moved to Miami 11 years ago the place was already a wreck, but it was a damn pretty wreck. I used to spend time there with my tagging buddies being the lookout and admiring the countless pieces of art and sifting through the mountains of spray-paint cans. I used to go there to cross the notoriously dangerous suspended bridge to get to the even shadier ladder which leads to the roof to skate on the perfectly angled rooftop. The view is just beautiful up there.. I have to say it is a real cultural symbol to those people in the know (and like I said I only got to know it once it was in ruins). So many friends were made there, and the greatest of times were spent intoxicated with the adrenaline rush of knowing you are trespassing on a condemned property, and that the po-po are just a block away. Funny.. I would say save it, but it's real charm for me has somehow been the utter neglect.
