"I thought the dinosaurs were extinct!" The first Ice Age film was nothing special, but it was a perfectly satisfactory bit of animated entertainment for the kids.

This week's DVD crop has something for everyone. There are two animated films for kids, a new Woody Allen effort for their parents and a first-rate horror film for anyone looking for a Halloween scare.

This week's DVD releases range from animated humor to a spine-tingling horror tale to a touching family drama.

The box-office numbers are shocking. A breezy cartoon, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, is near the top on the list of megahit movies of 2009.

Deciding against an Ice Age 4 Blue Sky Studios and Fox Animation will be creating Rio, with voice acting by Anne Hathaway and Neil Patrick Harris.
