When he gets here someone please ask him if the government also blew up the levies in Iowa during the last floods like he said they did in New Orleans when Katrina hit

Congrats to Professor Mallett on this. I wonder if Clint Eastwood will be involved in this project?

Spike Lee is a blatant racist and bigot. I cannot applaude any effort with which he is associated.

We need more front page stories like this, and like the one about Bill Cosby -- and we need John Edwards to take his $400 haircut go back to his $6 million mansion. What an inspirational guy (Mallett, not Lee).

Congratulations, Professor Mallett. I want to buy what sounds like a compelling memoir for myself and my kids. It's a story in which science and imagination dovetail beautifully. Can't wait for the movie, even if the director is Spike Lee.

If this were possible, why haven't we gotten any messages from the future yet?

If there were to be a future where time travel exists, wouldn't somebody (or some form of communication) have travelled back in time and we (our present, their past) would learn of it?

You can only go back in time to the point when the "time machine" was created. Meaning, if I created a time machine today (July 11th 2008)in 10, 20 or 50 years from now using the same machine, I would still only be able to travel back to today's date. So, for example, unless a time machine exists that was built in 1940, you wouldn't be able to go back and rid the world of Hitler.

More exactly, that would be an early model...much like a VHS rewinder.(Compared to a BlueRay DVR, of course.)

I guess I was assuming too much, and thinking of it in simple terms that the time “machine” could go to any date, regardless of the technology of that era (ala “Back to the Future”). Sorry, I grew up with that being one of my favorite movie and always based assumptions on their silly hypothetical ones (haha, one day I’ll grow up).
