Fitchburg official: Never told I lost job

What a damn shame for Mr Bourque, it goes to show you that this 'Mayor' has no regard for the 'Real' people of firchburg just herself. Thank you Mr Bourque, you are a real gem.

I would be dancing in the streets if she got rid of Bourque. He was fair? He acted on what ever "he" or a friend of his wanted him to act on. He is just as much a part of the problems of Fitchburg as the rest of the good ol boys.

However, I find it hard to start dancing when I hear she wants to appoint Tom Donnelly in his place. What the hell is going on down there. This is like jumping from the pan into the fire.
Are you telling me there are no fresh blooded, honest, "not part of the old network" available persons to do this job?

Come on Lisa, wake up. Don't get muddled down by them.

What's the point of giving your all for something when it only takes three seconds for a person who doesn't know you to blow a hole in your heart?

Mr. Bourque, I've been in your shoes.. and it's just not fair. Far too many GOOD CARING folks like yourself are taken advantage of every day in exactly the same way. People who give 110% each and every day, their heart and soul....

I am so sorry..Perhaps if there were MORE people like you working downtown, Fitchburg would be in a better position.

This mayors arrogance and complete disregard of others needs to be addressed. "Her way or the highway" should not be acceptable any longer. The question is how do we resolve her lack of respect for all people? Any ideas??

First, Mr. Bourque needed to go, and it makes absolute sense that she did what she did. Why you might ask?

This commission hands out licenses to the people who run places like the Hip-Hop Club on Putnam Street. In an area adjacent to Main Street, that has created alot of business....for the Police Department in the past, whether it was late night teens coming out of the place, some of which were staggering, to a club that had a 200 person fight, that the perp ran like a coward, and the management kept the cops from getting the person who started it.

Yet this time, I have to admit that Lisa made two errors in these appointments. The first to return William Judge to this commission. William Judge's votes have allowed these things to happen (and I could be wrong..but also allowed a strip club to set up shop in this city too.) Then, Lisa puts Tom Donnelly on this commission. This man has a lousy history as a landlord, but yet she wants to put this guy on the commission? Arrogance I think not, but being misguided is. Judge and Donnelly are just the old boy network, and their legacy in Fitchburg has made it what it is today. A hack town, with tons of funky dives, and a strip club, catering to the drunken and depraved!

Something stinks here...first Jeff Bean is appointed to one of the most influential positions in the city and now his fair haired boy to be hiored at almost twice what he was making when he was fired and escorted from city property by the police department! James Shuris, the DPW Director who was fired for insubordination in 2003. He sued the city over termination, lost, and took it to the state supreme court and lost there. Jeff Bean had hired him in 1995 for $58,000. Lisa wants to rehire him as DPW director for over $90,000 & give him six months "accumulated" sick leave and a car to drive.

If that's all true than I agree...it stinks bad. The new DPW head will get more money AND the car that was taken from the present DPW head??? Wasn't it decided that the position didn't warrant one....but now a different body in the DPW position suddenly needs a vehicle??? Take cars away...give 'em back! Was the "change" that the mayor promised in her campaign just changing her mind day to day?? What happened to saving the taxpayers money??

Totally agree with you. The Jeff Bean thing has me worried about her too.

She "had" us following her around like moonies, but most have figured her out.

I have always believed that a good manager surrounds themselves with good people. If what you said is true, what is Mayor Wong thinking. If this individual caused that much of an issue in the past, why would you rehire them now?

I know a couple Bob Bourgues and I don't know if this gentleman is one of them, but I would think that the Mayor could have handle this situation better. He has dedicated 41 years to the city and whether you like him or not, he deserves better. There is not many who dedicate that amount of time to a single community. Even if he is not returned to the commission, he should be applauded for his years of dedication regards what people might think of him as a license commisioner.

The mayor certianly seems inexperianced at human resource matters as shown with the style she hands things.
