Reminds me of my time in the Firestone HS band when we tried breaking the band record. 87-1/2 hrs later, too many of us had gone nuts from lack of sleep and we had to quit. (Thursday Jul 10 | post #3)

New UA stadium off to a suite start
My bad. I must have been thinking of this year's opener (on the road at Wisconsin). Still, getting a Big10 team at the bowl is not bringing in no-names. Cincinnati (Big East and ranked in the top 25 last year) comes in as this year's big name team. (Wednesday Jul 9 | post #48)
New UA stadium off to a suite start
They open the stadium against Wisconsin... how much more quality do you want? And have you ever been to a UA vs Kent game? Talk about a rivalry game!!! (Tuesday Jul 8 | post #39)
Northeast Ohio industrial sites in demand
Are those empty buildings from retail, professional, or manufacturing? I have also seen the empty retail and some professional buildings, but not many manufacturing sites. Maybe I'm not travelling in the right areas to see that. (Tuesday Jul 8 | post #12)
Northeast Ohio industrial sites in demand
Lots of new sites in the Solon/Glenwillow area. Hopefully Akron gets to keep Bridgestone/Firestone and can make their old building (or the cleared off site) available for new industry. (Monday Jul 7 | post #5)
Howe House move takes first step
The taxpayers have not spent anywhere near 2 million for this. Most if not all of the money to renovate the house is from private donations. http://www.ohioeri ecanal.org/howehou se.html The city is only paying to move it (approximately $800k I've heard) so a developer can build a new student apartment and retail on the block. Howe House move takes first step
Glad to see it move and be saved, but why isn't the site ready BEFORE the move so they don't have to move it twice? (Monday Jun 30 | post #2)
Streets downtown will close as house makes move
Don't know, but I would speculate it had to do with overtime rates for the weekend. Glad to see a part of Akron's history saved. (Monday Jun 30 | post #7)
Rulings likely in land case involving UA
The current verdict seems analogous to comparing values on 2000 sq ft colonials, one on Thornton St and one on Merriman Rd and saying they should be the same price. (Jun 23, 2008 | post #60)
The properties in this case ARE NOT FOR THE FOOTBALL STADIUM!!!! They are for DORMS! (Jun 6, 2008 | post #100)
New UA-area townhomes unveiled
I think Neighbor was referring to Northside which is near the towpath. Spicer Village is not that close to the towpath. (Jun 3, 2008 | post #52)
New UA-area townhomes unveiled
The plan was for much of that area to be replaced with more of the same type of housing. Getting people into the first few units before the rest of the area is upgraded will be one of the biggest challanges. (Jun 3, 2008 | post #24)
New UA-area townhomes unveiled
They can play on the sidewalk, the inner courtyard, a neighborhood park, or on a side street, just like the kids in any other city would do. I hope it goes over well. There's a lot to overcome in that neighborhood to get the cash flowing to re-do the whole area like they were planning. (Jun 3, 2008 | post #5)
Trial begins in UA eminent domain case
Actually the land in question is to be used for dorms. They already have the land for the stadium and are in the process of building it. (May 29, 2008 | post #84)
