Do Basotho Believe There’s Cure for AIDS

Letlama I apologise if the impression is created that Basotho believe that there’s a cure for AIDS but I tried to be clear in my original posting on this matter. Personally, I know there’s cure but my original question was based on this - http://www.macaids fund.org/news/pr_r l_global_study.htm l I have a hard copy of the study, which was graciously given to me by one of the people who were somehow involved in the project (after I got the information in one of the forums on the net)..…..After your request, I asked her if the full study can’t be accessed on the net……she’s trying to find out. Again, apologies for a wrong impression……..I’m just worried that our communities and nations could be under a misconception that there’s cure, and if that is the case…..re sa hloa moepa!!!!  (Nov 16, 2007 | post #15)

Do Basotho Believe There’s Cure for AIDS

Don't you think it would have been better to read and understand the context of the question than just going on the attack.....nowhere did I say I think that Basotho think there's cure for AIDS....that would be highly irresponsible and disrespectful....please re-read the question...  (Nov 16, 2007 | post #12)

Will the Fifa world cup 2010 be a success?

I agree with you about the crime level in the country…..it’s a cause for concern…..but I’m still hopeful that will be sorted out…….the South African authorities must just show complete political will……But all in all I believe the tournament will be a success.  (Nov 16, 2007 | post #7)

Do Basotho Believe There’s Cure for AIDS

Yes, I did go through the survey……they believe that ARVs are a cure…..now taking into account that Lesotho and South Africa share both the economy and social status, including the high prevalence of HIV in both countries I thought of getting information from Basotho…….what do they know…….I could try to go to the Lesotho authorities,…… but experience has shown that civil society groupings mostly differ with the official position on this subject…... But what also startled me about the survey is that one thought that people from countries like France and UK would have a totally different take and cautious approach on the matter……they are after all said to be first world countries while ours are third world…….but half of the young people interviewed from those countries don’t believe that AIDS is fatal…..  (Nov 16, 2007 | post #11)

Do Basotho Believe There’s Cure for AIDS

Many respondents in a recent survey conducted in United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, France, China, India, Mexico, Brazil and South Africa believe that there’s cure for HIV infections. While it is admitted that the survey was not conducted in Lesotho, what is the trends in that country…..do people believe that HIV infections are curable? If so, what could be the source of such information, and are authorities doing anything to send a different message? If not, why is the figure of infections growing? Are Basotho still risking despite knowing that there’s no cure?  (Nov 15, 2007 | post #1)
