I would like to thank the Upland Police Dept. for keeping me safe from those weirdo punk rockers at Biacci's Pizza last Saturday (9/27/08). What better way to protect the public from the dangers of slam-dancing than by sending some 30+ officers to storm a tiny pizza joint and stick pepper-ball paint guns in our faces? Great logic: "That is dangerous, so stop it or we will hurt all of you...even those simply sitting at tables eating pizza!" It is also good to know that there was no crime being committed anywhere else in the city so that so many uniformed officers could stop the scorge of punk music fans from congregating on Central. Those strange kids might interfere with the business (legit and non-legit) at the nearby Mustang Adult Bookstore. That whole unnecessary scene reminded me of the old days when the cops would bust our heads just for going to a gig. At least nobody got hurt. We just lost our money....oh well....Thanks Upland P.D. You obviously had a fun time ruining ours. (Monday Sep 29 | post #1)
Pepper, I am glad you worked through your inner turmoil to a point where you no longer feel the compulsion to harm yourself. The whole emo thing is dying out (thank goodness) as most empty trends do not have staying power. It is important that we always remember the difference between making fun of a dumb trend and making fun of a human being with genuine feelings. Emo is lame, but people are people. Its just funny to make jokes and stuff about the whole emo trend. Some people on both sides take it way too seriously. I hope life is good for you at this point. (Monday Sep 29 | post #38)
Two graffiti vandals sought by police
Modern art is great, so long as I don't have to pay hundreds of dollars to have it removed from my personal property. When I was in Finland, I saw how the local governments set aside places where graffiti art was allowed. Some of the stuff was amazing, most of it was junk. Even so, that might be a good idea to try here in the U.S. (Saturday Sep 27 | post #250)
The false emo scene invites ridicule and thrives on the negative attention. Hurting people is not cool, but if you choose to follow the dumbest trend to ever infect popular culture...then expect to get laughed out of town. Emo sucks. (Tuesday Sep 23 | post #199)

Taggers are nothing more than immature children that still scribble on walls so they can feel important like a dog pissing on a post. It is hillarious to see how bad all you losers are at spelling and grammar. You are so proud to display your inability to conquer your own language. You have a great future in making french fries and working the graveyard shift at AMPM after you do your inevitable jail terms. (Tuesday Sep 23 | post #248)
Again, all music is emotional, so even the (fake) term "emotional hardcore" is a misnomer. The D.C. hardcore scene in the '80s was termed "emotional hardcore" way back then, but it was rejected by the punk bands that were labeled such by the media. All music is emotional, even all forms of punk rock. Even hardcore punk legend Ian MacKaye said the emo label was stupid way back in 1986. Go to youtube, and type in: "Ian MacKaye emo" and listen to him say exactly that. Emo sucks. All real creative music exists OUTSIDE of the mainstream because the most creative and hearty things grow best in hard-to-reach environments. (Aug 20, 2008 | post #197)
All music is emotional. Making an emotional distinction for a so-called sub-genre is absurd. The entire emo trend (past and present) is nothing more than fashion-based trendiness ignorantly claiming to be counter-culture. Emo sucks. (Aug 20, 2008 | post #32)

Give me your address so I can come by and express myself all over your house. I will create a masterpiece all over the inside and outside of your home. I look forward to the day when you are caught, locked up and cry like a little baby for your mommy an daddy to come take you home. (Aug 19, 2008 | post #241)
All music is emotional, not just this stupid, fashion-based "woe is me" trend that has infected music with whiny pop and horrible tantrum metal. Saying one (fake) genre of music is emo is like saying, "I like music with musicians, so I am a musico." EMO: Just another meaningless, stupid trend that is already fading with time. People should be judged by the quality of their character and not the color of their skin. Its funny when somebody makes racist comments like this, because they think they are coming across as real clever, but they are only displaying their own hate-fueled ignorance. Crime goes up in porportion to the increase in population. Most of the taggers I have seen around here are upper-middle class white kids pretending to be ghetto. The person posting the original message was just trying to push the racist button...ho hum (Aug 12, 2008 | post #18)
Nah...that chimp is fine. I bet he is enjoying the freedom after decades of captivity. Chimps are smart and resourceful. Even if he is dead, sometimes that is preferable than living in a cage. (Aug 11, 2008 | post #8)
Yeah, the Republican Party has done such a great job the past eight years, what we need is more of the same....let's start another war with a nation that did nothing to us, trash the economy, ignore drowning people on live national televsion, and continue to elicit the contempt and ridicule of the rest of the world. Go McCain! Go Bush III! Actually, I believe that Moe the chimp would have done a better job of president than the chimp still in the White House. (Aug 8, 2008 | post #6)
Russian gays defy ban, more arrests at Moscow protests
Let's see...you said that beating people up is the right thing to do...and this somehow constitues being "good." Okay...Gays just want to be left alone to live their lives, love whom they want, and to have equal rights. Live and let live...if other people's actions do not affect your life...then mind your own business. Anger is fear and violence begets more violence. Ah...but then again...I am trying to reason with the ignorant (Jun 2, 2008 | post #781)

TRICLOPS! CD Review....(weird stuff maaan)
TRICLOPS!: Out of Africa: CD This is a totally weird, totally intense, and thoroughly enjoyable strange trip. It sounds like intelligent-manic aliens on acid formed a band after listening to a lot of Melvins, Phish, ‘70s progressive rock, and Zack de la Rocha’s vocals. The result is unlike anything you have ever heard before, and nobody else can sound like this. Triclops! is a genre unto itself. You will either love this album or you will hate it; there is no in between in the higher-regions of experimental, socio-political, serious-yet-inane consciousness. There are only seven songs here, but the entire experience clocks in at about forty minutes total. No matter; time is irrelevant in this dimension where scathing denouncement of American materialism and hostile world imperialism swirls in an earsplitting melodic cacophony of comedic nonsense as presented on track two “Iraq Curator”. Play this for your friends and they will either look at you knowingly or as if they had never met you before. -Marcus Solomon (Alternative Tentacles) www.myspace(dot)co m/triclopsband www.alternativeten tacles(dot)com (May 21, 2008 | post #1)
