"First: What does Statehood mean for the majority of Puerto Ricans, except the rabid Pitiyanki's, who are a MINORITY within the PNP. A specifically designed 51 State means: 1-Keeping Spanish as a first language, adopting English only for practical purposes like anyplace in the world. 2-Maintaining an Olympic Team independent from the U.S. 3-keeping an independent Miss Universe Contest. 4-Increase Federal Transfer payments to $20 Billion or more. That is called PARITY. 5-Getting a large state representation, larger than 26 states! 6-Getting EIGHT electoral votes, more than what 23 other states have, enough to send Hillary Clinton to the White House in 2016 and beyond. 7-Getting 60% of the population on INCOME TAX CREDITS. All this enters into the "BENEFICIOS " that Statehooders constantly swear islanders will get." About the olympic team, Would Puerto Ricans cheer for the Puerto Rican Olympic team first, but the American team second? An example: Puerto Rico vs Denmark= cheer for Puerto Rico Usa vs Denmark= cheer for Usa Usa vs Puerto Rico= cheer for Puerto Rico And is Fortuņo a Pitiyanki? http://www.city-da ta.com/forum/u-s-t erritories/1799108 -puerto-rico-going -state-6.html#post 31218457  (Aug 31, 2013 | post #1)

Hey, I'm what you'd call a gringo, and what would you think if I moved to Puerto Rico, and learned Spanish, even if it was broken Spanish at first? And tried my best to master the language.  (Aug 31, 2013 | post #5)

I'm against it personally. I think teir should be a more bilingual approach, but not english only.  (Aug 31, 2013 | post #3)

I have a feeling, with statehood, that a bunch of what Jorge calls "gringos " will move to Puerto Rico, and turn it into an english speaking society.  (Aug 30, 2013 | post #6)

Why do Puerto Ricans hate white people?

And even if it does, it will be bilingual, with Spanish the dominant language.  (Aug 30, 2013 | post #48)
