Most Haitians are dark skinned Africans

Laury - Key word "pysche" ..We must change the way we THINK, the way we operate as a nation. One good thing that we DO have is patriotism and we must use that in a POSSITIve matter towards PROGRESS. I'm optimistic with our new President way of thinking and the POSSIBILITY of change and education. Lets all believe that WE as nation can indeed CHANAGE. As Maya Angelo said "WHEN YOU KNOW BETTER, YOU DO BETTER"...  (Jun 7, 2011 | post #12)

why does haitians and dominicans dislike each other so much?

BlamingGame - I tend to agree with you to some extent. But lets keep in mind, Haiti have been opressed for over 200 years. As Maya Angelou once quoted, "When you know better you do better".  (May 25, 2011 | post #3)

Can Haiti make progress under the new President Michel Ma...

Bahamas, I do agree It is not about the President, it about the people. But lets keep in mind, our people have been opressed for over 200 years. First and formost, We as a people have to be conscious enough to want change. As Maya Angelou once quoted, "When you know better you do better". It takes a great leader with vision, compasion and determination to convey the message of hope; a leader that the people believes in that would help us change the way we think. We have come so far, it is imperative that we start in believing that it is possible we can rise from this. Until this new President shows us differently, lets rally behind him. As a Haitian born, living is the US I'm desperate to see a change in our country. It is disturbing to see other islands that have less history, less resources make so much progress and yet Haiti continues to fall behind.  (May 25, 2011 | post #7)

@ButtoXsQueen - You made a valid point in terms of who Martelly needs to associate himself with and I do agree. However, dispite his previous occupation and the lack of political savvy, I'd like to be somewhat optimistic with this guy...Thus far, his compasion, his will and determination have been exceptional. Little did any of us knew, contrary to Sweet Micky as a flamboyant artist, Michel Martelly seems to have been well connected and fully informed in Haitian politics.  (May 24, 2011 | post #4)

why does haitians and dominicans dislike each other so much?

Isn't it Ironic that Haiti and Dominican republic reside on the same Island and yet they dislike each other so much? I can understand beeing patriotic but the amount of hate that I see on topics related to such seems so disturbing. IS is easier to be offensive rather than colaborating? y  (May 20, 2011 | post #1)
