Vicksburg Mall

Over the weekend I saw the sign on the door of Bebop Records which is now closed in Pemberton Plaza. After hurricane Katrina,FYE shut its doors in the old Pemberton Mall. Now their isn't any cd stores for kids to shop except for the super Walmart but the Jackson Bebops are still going strong. Another issue that Pemberton has long since has is its high leases and rents. Those too have force retailers to leave as well. CBL Associates hasn't made any new announcements about this property either and they haven't sold none of the parcels around the mall either.  (May 3, 2010 | post #12)

All I can say honestly the CBL Associates has impose a curfew on teen agers who go to the mall. That's the only change they publicly announce but in the community everyone wants the mall manager to go. And on the coast you have a much better cinema than the one up here.  (Mar 30, 2010 | post #8)

Vicksburg Mall

wilcox theatres is the new operator but it likes to hold movies over for months that it brings thus knocking the weekend blockbusters like Alice in Wonderland from coming. But with new 3d tech it can't compete with the Malco 17 in Madison other cinemas around the Jackson area.  (Mar 29, 2010 | post #6)

A good explanation for Vicksburg numbers

here's another fact to consider: since the casinos here opened here back in the mid '90s the mom and pop restraunts lost business due the casinos buffet. Some but not all.  (Mar 23, 2010 | post #13)

A good explanation for Vicksburg numbers

Nile that has been big puzzle for me. How local property values have skyrocketed. As for retailers CBL Associates runs it mouth about plans for the old mall but they don't make any effort to produce results for thier own property. The theory I have is that property shot up over time before the real estate market crash. But I can tell some realtors here haven't sold homes becouse of thier price tag and a senior couple moved out of thier home becouse of the crime and the police didn't help.  (Mar 23, 2010 | post #11)
