Trains Could Be Answer To Street Problems
Citizens of Tulsa, You must realize that any type of infrastructure, additional police manpower, or logical mass transit cannot be paid for with existing funds. We have really important things that are your priority at this time... including a new ultramodern arena and a new building wtih penthouse office space for city hall. Because of this, your tax dollars are now spent. If you are tired of pitiful streets, violent crime, traffic congestion, and lack of mass public transit: you will need to pay more taxes. And by more, I mean lots more. Thank you for the state sponsored luxruy that I so deserve. Don't forget to pack heat so you can stay safe in these dangerous times. Stabbing Death Suspect Turns Self In
Why don't you quit responding to my posts? I've never sought your opinion... and I've only replied to you when I've been directly quoted. Instead of telling me to quit complaining or move... why don't you come up with some kind of actual thoughtful idea as to why I'm so wrong? (May 20, 2008 | post #115)

Again, I have completely agreed with this point. There is no argument on my end that the primary focus of enforcing the seatbelt law is the generation of revenue. My argument is that its not as simple as "I'm only hurting myself." No, you are hurting every single taxpayer when you became disabled because you were exercising your freedom. It is only this point that I have a problem with your logic... and that is only because I personally watch the expendature of millions of our tax dollars taking care of these injuries. Call For Contract Mowers Goes Unanswered
Where do I begin with such a compelling argument? Seems to me that Sherrif Arpaio gets quite a bit done with chain gangs in Phoenix... and has been politically unchallenged do to his local approval. As far as the cost of guarding these guys... I really wouldn't know. what does a prison guard make per hour these days? I would imagine that the hourly rate for two or three guards does not equal or exceed the hourly rate for privately contracted lawn mowers. I'm not sure what the point of the remaider of your argument was. If you meant to say in a roundabout fashion that you are a democrat with a moderate case of class envy... that message was recieved andcame across without distortion. (May 19, 2008 | post #7)

Ray, Please take this advise as constrctive critcism, because that is the intention. After reading your posts, my overwhelming reaction is that I'm embarassed for you. The best you can do is tell someone to **** or call them "ignorante. " Take a deep breath and try to re-direct your emotions in to something less self degrading. I would suggest anything that does not involve a keyboard or voicing of your public opinion. (May 19, 2008 | post #98)

Skip back a page or two and read my posts. I'm all for letting anyone so stupid as to forgo seatbelts do just that. As a taxpayer, I would like the same ability to waive your financial claims to disability and uncompensted health care. You should be free to do whatever you want so long as the rest of society doesn't have to pay for the consequences. Every single brain or spinal cord injury costs the taxpaying public millions of dollars in the form of acute, chronic, and rehabilitative care. (May 19, 2008 | post #45)

What about putting every incarcerated criminal on a chain gang? Look at the model Sherrif Joe Arpaio sets in Phoenix Arizona. Put manual grass cutters in their hands and go to work. I'd be all for it. (May 19, 2008 | post #3)
Police Prepping For Click It Or Ticket
I just saw one of my favorite patients in the office today. The reason he is one of my favorites is his humourous and upbeat attitude, despite the terrible card in life he has been dealt. He is a quadraplegic with limited use of his arms because he broke his cervical spine in a collision several years back. He was partially ejected and nearly died. His two restrained passengers walked away. I just did a laparoscopic diverting colostomy and suprapubic catheter on him a month ago. He has several decubitus ulcers (bed sores or pressure sores) on his hips and rear-end because he lacks sensation and the ability to turn himself. He needed a colostomy because he needs 2-3 staged plastic surgeries with probably 2 months of inpatient treatment to close his wounds.... which cannot heal with continuous stool soilage. He is so happy with his colostomy... no more messing his bed or chair. No more stooling in his wounds. Everything is nice and controlled into a bag off his side. Do you think he wishes he wore a seatbelt? Do you like knowing that you are paying for every single procedure and every bit of his long term care? (May 19, 2008 | post #42)

One more thing: I would like to encourage any of your colleagues to participate in this forum. While most posters abuse the anonymity of this forum to embarassingly act out.... some of us actually want to discuss issues that we believe fall on otherwise deaf ears. Again, thanks to you. Have a safe night. (May 19, 2008 | post #32)

I know that you won't be able to answer until tomorrow. I just re-read you post again. That part about 2 officers for your 12 square mile beat in a crime ridden area at night just kills me. I truly believe this to be the case... and it goes straight to the heart of my complaint. Again, today I literally saw 17 different police officers along a 12 mile strecth of bike trail over a 2 hour period... during the late morning hours when I can only imagine violent crime to be at its absolute least likelyhood. I even saw 2 officers on the bike trail itself... equal the manpower dedicated to your beat at night. Thanks again for your participation. It really means alot to me to be able to interact with you on these issues. (May 19, 2008 | post #31)

The Queens Posse: I would also like to add that the unmarked cars are great. I would really like to see more of those out and about ticketing people for not following the rules of the road. I'd like to see emphasis on: proper passing lane usage tailgaiting distracted driving (cell phone, food, makeup, etc) wreckless driving i.e. 15-20 mph faster than the common speed left turn light violaters These are things that I see every single time that I drive... and things that I believe to be the cause of collisions. I think that focusing just on speeders from stationary (and well known routine hideouts) does not adress the issue of actual highway safety. Thanks again for participating in this forum. Suspects Sought In Apartment Stabbing, Robbery
First and foremost I would like to thank you for taking the time to add your thoughts. I know that on an individual basis, you guys are doing what you can for the most part. I know absolutely nothing about whet it means to go to work, knowing full well I could die in the line of duty. That said, my criticism is aimed more at the general perception that I get during my time spent in a motor vehicle or bicycle.... and what I read in the nightly news. I am frustrated with the level of violent crime in Tulsa. The FBI's own crime census lists Tulsa as having more violent crimes per year than any other city in the state. Yet I read about an undercover sting operation busting and publicly crucifying a non-violent man on Turkey mountain.... for consentual sex.... and I see nothing but traffic enforcement during daylight hours. I wrote on another thread about my observations even from today. I will cut and paste. Sorry for the lengthy gripe: I went on my daily bike ride a little early today... along the riverside trail from 21st street up to the Creek TPK, then west to memorial. I started out at 10a and got back to my truck around noon. Let me tell you how many police on patrol I saw: 2 bicycle units riding side bys side on the trail itself 8 black and white units along Riverside drive, 2 specifically pulled over on side streets actively clocking traffic. 4 motorcycle units crusing along Riverside drive 1 super slick unmarked Dodge Charger parked at Quiktrip on 91st and Riverside. It was one of those stealthy unmarked units that you cannot tell are police cars until you are within a few feet. This unit was occupied and facing the store... doing nothing. I rode into QT to get a gatorade, and this cop was camped out. I had time to purchace and drink my 32oz G2, check voice mail, make 3 calls, and restart my ipod... and the unmarked patrol never moved. My math says 17 cops on some sort of active duty along Riverside drive from 10a to noon. This is absolutely insane to me. If I were to ride at 10p to midnight, would I see this kind of presence from the police? No. We have a terrible problem with violent crime in this town. Tulsa is statistically proven to be the worst city in the entire state when it comes to violent crime. I would bet that the peak hours of violent crime are not during the daylight hours. Maybe, just maybe, we should focus the majority of the police manpower during the night? (May 19, 2008 | post #28)
Drunken Driver Sends Elderly Couple To Hospital
He chose to drive even though his license was suspended. He chose to drive drunk and high. He chose to speed and operate his vehicle in an unsafe manner. He killed two innocent and law abiding people as a result. There was nothing accidental about it. It was not a mistake. It is nobody's fault but Cebon's. I hope he goes to prison and thinks about his intentionally neglegent and criminal actions for the better part of his life. (May 19, 2008 | post #70)
