Another Pizzeria

Thank you to those who have stopped in and gave us a try! It did take some time for the window lettering to come and in the meanwhile we used what we could to get info out there. We have achieved a great deal in a little time, with a very little capital, we are planning on making the place look as welcome and nice as possible, but we had to open with what we have. Everything comes in time and we hope to be here a very long time. We are running a few specials for those of you who would like to stop by and give us a try: Slice and a can of soda $2.00 Slice and a bottle $2.50 2 Slices and bottle $4.25 2 Slices and can $3.75 Large Cheese and 2 Liter $13.50 Large Pizza & 20 Wings $20.00 Large Pizza 2 Toppings, Breadsticks, 30 Wings,& 2 Liter $28.00. Thanks!  (Dec 2, 2013 | post #19)

We will not be getting any assistance, though it would be helpful. Everything that has been done in the place is from our own money, as we have been told there is no assistance available. As far as taking two years to open, no, we should be open by December 1st, no later. We are bringing something different in terms of pizza, it is not the same s what is currently offered in the valley, as all the pizza here tastes the same, ours is different, true NY style and we will make as the customer would like. We are trying to bring good, reasonable food to the area, without having to take advantage of loans, this is all started out of pocket, with every last penny that we have. We would greatly appreciate your support!  (Nov 19, 2013 | post #4)

Food Stamps

@gary, thanks, support is always appreciated, it is hard enough to accept the help as it is, let alone try to explain one's side and be beat up for it. @house, yes, I used to work that much, I was well off, until I couldn't work any longer, money does not last long when there is none coming in. It took over two years to get help from the government, you know disability, the stuff that we as workers pay into. Food stamps are not free considering I have paid more taxes in the last 15 years than you have I am sure. I am by no means hooked on any drugs, I am prescribed medication for pain that I take as needed, which can be addicting if one lets it. I am not one to allow something to take control of me.If I was able to work without the chance of paralyzing myself I would be, regardless of the pain, but I would much rather acquire a degree so I can work without having to do something that will paralyze me. Since manual labor is all I am qualified for, I could sit on my ass, do nothing and collect checks the rest of my life, but I choose not to. I choose to improve myself and educate myself so I am capable of doing something else. But, thanks, I love how in America we support our people and wonder why nothing changes.  (Sep 13, 2012 | post #198)

Food Stamps

To add to my earlier post I receive $800 a month for myself and 4 children, receive $600 a month in food stamps, my wife receives $500 for disability, she has a steel cage and bolts for a spine. We receive too much to get public assistance, which is fine, it would help, but we make do. Granted some bills don't get paid some months, but for now this is the choice I have, not one I am proud of. But, one thing in this situation I can say I am proud of is I am not just planning on receiving disability and food stamps the rest of my life, even though I could and have excellent reason to, more than most who do currently receive both. I think a person who is receiving disability or food stamps or any assistance that makes it so they do not have to work, should be required to earn a degree or get certified in another area of the work force that they will be capable of doing. The only problem I see is like with myself all of the prescription drugs I am on, would and could interfere with the work. I am hoping I will be taken off of most of these sometime in my life. Before my life went downhill I worked roughly 80-120 hours a week every week and I loved it...and so wish I could still be doing it. I must say the people who do "fake" an illness, they must be good actors because I have mri's, x-rays, and Dr.'s who were on my side and still had to get a lawyer and go to court to receive disability. I don't understand how they fake it?  (Sep 13, 2012 | post #195)

As hard as it is for someone with a felony conviction to obtain a job, this man has made a business for himself. He could have gone the way most ex-cons go and became a life long criminal, due to not being able to obtain a job. But he took it upon himself to make a job, how many of you, that are bashing him can say this? How many of you would be able to stand up and take the punishment for what he did? He has served his time, this cannot fix what happened, but by law, he has done what was required of him. Not only has he done his time, started his own business, owns his own house, but, he still has to live with what happened. Every one makes mistakes, I am not the biggest believer in God, but, God forgives, so man must also.  (Sep 12, 2012 | post #40)

Food Stamps

As a current recipient of food stamps and disability, I feel what one purchases should be of no matter to another. There is a limited amount of money on the card if the people choose to spend it foolishly, then let them, they will suffer at the end of the month when they have no food and no means to acquire any. I for one hate having to rely on food stamps and disability, I do so so my children can eat, I eat only once a day to make me feel I am not taking advantage. While I am not able to work now, while I am out of work I am "taking advantage" and getting a bachelors degree so in the future I can work. Right now as my body is I can't work and am not qualified to do anything but physical labor, which my doctor will not clear me to do. I have had one surgery and will be doing more, for now I am in need, but in the future after I earn a degree I will be able to teach or something of that nature and will be able to get back into the workforce. So, would it be wrong if I got my kids an ice cream bar once in awhile? Or maybe treated them to a nice steak dinner because I can't take them out, physically or financially?  (Sep 9, 2012 | post #180)

Rome Burned, Will We?

I do not feel oppressed just stating that the government has too much control and it will bite us in the ass one day. The thread is "Rome burned, will we", once government acquires too much power it falls, this is what happened to Rome. Rome got to big and spread itself too thin and fell. Same as our country is doing now, one country can only do so much.  (Aug 29, 2012 | post #41)

Rome Burned, Will We?

Our country needs one major change, the power needs to be back into the hands of the people. "We the people" have given away too many of our civil liberties in the name of fear or "the war on terror" and "the war on drugs". This will be what leads our country into collapse. Our government is supposed to fear the people, not us fearing them. They are there to represent us, they work for us, the executive, legislative, and judicial branch all work for us and should fear us. Without fear will lead to tyranny, tyranny would be the collapse of this great nation. Thomas Jefferson once stated: "When the government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny."  (Aug 29, 2012 | post #36)
