Order putting top cops on streets nets one arrest

That's kind of what I thought too, that this is more for good publicity than to actually accomplish anything.  (Mar 13, 2008 | post #58)

Murder charges to be dropped in Durty Nelly's case

Also, this goes to show why vigilante justice is a bad thing. When this first happened, there were plenty of comments on here saying things like "just take him out back and shoot him." Well, this is why you don't do things like that.  (Mar 7, 2008 | post #3)

Murder charges to be dropped in Durty Nelly's case

Well, it's disappointing in some ways. But it's good that justice is done. Hopefully they will be able to figure out what really happened that night.  (Mar 7, 2008 | post #2)

Burglars hit Brownsburg

I don't care much for people who break into other people's houses. I hope a homeowner catches them in the act and shoots them.  (Mar 7, 2008 | post #7)

Allisonville Road restricted at I-465

I saw that on the way to work. I was wondering what was going on... I hope 465 is open when I am ready to go home, because it was all messed up at 11am this morning.  (Mar 6, 2008 | post #2)

Hoosier drivers face DUI, seat belt checks

DUI checkpoints have everything to do with propaganda and nothing to do with catching drunk drivers. If they really wanted to catch drunk drivers, they would have police drive around aimlessly between 11pm and 2am... from my experience, that's when the most drunk drivers are out on the roads. I go to the bar quite often, and when I drive home during those hours, I see at least one drunk driver pretty much every night. And if I see one on my 20 minute drive home, I can't even imagine how many the police would catch if they were to drive around for those four hours.  (Mar 6, 2008 | post #97)

Mom gets 30 years in fatal neglect case

From the article: "She testified during the trial that she didn't seek medical help for hours after Montgomery struck Elijah and threw him onto the floor because Montgomery threatened her." If that's the case, I can't say that I agree with all of the belligerent comments I see on here. If, for example, her boyfriend told her that if she tried to leave he would stop her and if she tried to call for help he would kill her, I would have some sympathy. I'm assuming that she deserved what she got, since she got it. But then again, my observations seem to show that judges and prosecutors have no sympathy or mercy whatsoever. It's a sad story all around, and, unless there are some details left out, I think the sole fault lies with her boyfriend... he deserves to die.  (Mar 5, 2008 | post #12)

Cookie payment costs worker his job

It was a bad decision by the employee. But it seems like a warning would have been more appropriate, unless the employees had warnings in the past or something.  (Mar 5, 2008 | post #21)

Bars open extra hour on Sunday

They should just allow 24/7 alcohol sales and be done with it.  (Mar 4, 2008 | post #15)

Indianapolis sets its sights on the big game

I just have a few things to say to the neigh-sayers. Indianapolis doesn't have to be some kind of grand resort to host a Super Bowl. People don't travel to where the Super Bowl is being held to visit local attractions. They go for the big game. Indianapolis doesn't have to have warm weather to host a Super Bowl. While warm weather is a big help, there have been Super Bowls in Detroit and Minneapolis. We only lost by a couple of votes last time, and that was when we were competing against Dallas's HUGE new stadium. I think we have a good shot.  (Feb 20, 2008 | post #69)

Major Fishers development to start in '08

I love the headline. "Major Fishers development to start in '08." You mean it hasn't already started?!  (Feb 20, 2008 | post #1)

Greyhound passengers stranded overnight

It's a good thing there are 2 bars across the street. Hopefully it gave them something to do to kill the time.  (Feb 13, 2008 | post #26)

Indy mayor testifies on property tax bill

There isn't a column in the budget for fluff, and that's what makes it difficult to cut things. But fluff is there. If you want an example, take a look at some of the schools that are being built. They have flashy architecture and landscaping. They have athletic facilities that rival some colleges. They have food courts. And the list can go on. All of these things are nice, but they aren't necessary for a good education. And they cost money. And we are paying for them, currently with property taxes. The problem is, if someone goes out and says "cut education," people are going to freak out. It's tricky business. Hopefully Ballard eventually gets the motivation to step up and at least TRY to decease spending.  (Feb 11, 2008 | post #151)
