Pride to parade through Welch for 89th time

Marched in those parades for many years - in school bands. Some great memories there. The headline could have been better worded though. I immediately thought something else when I read that.  (Nov 17, 2008 | post #3)

BDT, my point in my posts is that out of one side of your mouth you say that you won't accept him as your president and you don't respect him - the man though you hold some respect for the country. THEN you turn around and say that you'll give him a chance and all that. The two statements don't jive together. It makes you look as though you are talking out both sides of your mouth, as they say. I'm not the only one who thought this. I applaud you for writing your representatives. Continue to vote for your views and those that share them. Short of that, one must live with majority rules. I have for eight years now. I could start Bush Bashing like many are Obama bashing but I don't. More people wanted Bush in office and even if he wasn't my choice, I accepted it.  (Nov 6, 2008 | post #85)

Not to get off the topic, but did anyone else watching NBC / MSNBC coverage last night notice how often they showed the guy holding up the "Bush - You're Fired" sign at Rockefeller Plaza? LOL!  (Nov 5, 2008 | post #50)

Mini Trucks For Sale

Those look like trucks you see in Europe. Mostly commercial types though. Is that Subie an all wheel drive like their passenger vehicles?  (Nov 5, 2008 | post #14)

President-elect Obama!

Yeah, Palin kind of spooked me a bit too. Analysts were saying last night that even though she energized the ticket at first, she drug him down in the end. Their words, not mine. It was a fine speech by him though. I too wished he'd spoken that way more throughout the campaign.  (Nov 5, 2008 | post #52)

Yes, I have been critical of "W". I gave the man a chance though when he beat Gore in '00 and Kerry in '04. I voted against him both times but I had an open mind and I voted on the policies and referendums I supported. I voted for the congressional candidates that more often than not supported the policies that I valued. "You about an ignorant Son of a Bit#h...." Haa haa, this really doesn't need a reply. Your intelligence is stunning - no really! As far as for what the man wrote, BDT wrote this earlier: "Locutus, there's one thing the opposition won't do. We won't viciously attack, belittle, and ridicule the president-elect in the same shameful manner you liberal Democrats attacked Bush. And, I'll be the first to call one on it if he or she does so. I'm more than willing to give the man a chance to prove himself. However, that in no way diminishes the deep suspicion I harbor for him based on his shady friendships, relationships, and what I consider, his socialist policies." Hmm, and you just said you "refuse to acknowledge or accept Barack Hussein Obama as the president of my country. " ???  (Nov 5, 2008 | post #26)

Thx WCC, that's too kind of you to say, and I don't find myself to be really deserving of it but thx LOL. I am thankful that we can voice our opinion and vote. I know many people prayed that God's will be done. It has, whether this be a time where we continue to be tried, or we have a period of prosperity, there is a plan in it. And as a responsible American, thankful of our freedoms, I don't think it right to abandon our leader - newly elected by our fellow citizens. Please, we all have to try. I'm not afraid to admit, I am scared. I see signs of hard times like BDT and MyTurn do. Heck, I work for a company that does stuff for the Government and Military - so all this is very personal to me too - But we can't sit on our thumbs just because we don't like our President. We have to pull together and encourage them to work together and hopefully solve some of this mess before it becomes too late.  (Nov 5, 2008 | post #23)

BDT, sometimes I agree with you but this is the dumbest sh*t I have ever read. First off, let me state, I don't like Obama either, I don't like McCain - but someone had to win. "The good people of the great state of West Virginia overwhelmingly put him on notice that we didn't believe he was qualified to be our president" Since when did WV become the all knowing state that knows best what to choose for the rest of the United States? Don't the other 49 States have a right to voice their opinion? The majority of Americans disagree with you. Most McCain supporters have been gracious and are glad we have the FREEDOM to have the CHANCE to PICK our leader and that we don't live in a country where our leaders choose themselves are are chosen for us with our say what so ever. If you don't like Obama's policies, then write your congressman or your senator. Let them know how you want them to vote. The President can't do much unilaterally without support from the Congress. If you are just going to sit around and mewl about how much you hate the president and you aren't going to respect him and take no active participation in your rights in government, then move to Mexico or somewhere like that. Or how about, you give the man a freaking chance to earn your respect? I am.  (Nov 5, 2008 | post #19)

What job is hiring?

Maybe a place to check is http://www.state.w v.us/admin/personn el/jobs/. I don't know if Welch Community Hospital is hiring any part time people or not but it's worth a shot. There also may be some other state government agencies like the DMV that have something available. The only drawback is, she would have to take a test in Charleston to get on the job register.  (Oct 5, 2008 | post #23)
