Someone you should know

Well I looked him up couldn't find anything to lead me to this. It seems he got in a fight with Drew Peterson, and that is a good thing that I see it. Don't see anything else.  (Oct 29, 2014 | post #19)

It's Here

That's unknown. Until we know how it got here, we can't say what would've happened to prevent it, if any.. It is possible, but highly improbable a strain actually originated here or at least, in the Western Hemisphere. I won't get ahead of myself, making claims based on assumptions  (Sep 30, 2014 | post #4)

It's Here

I don't see how the administration is to blame. But this is typical of every thing good and bad, all fingers get pointed to "the administration ". As if the administration has omnipotence, is in complte control of everything and has total omniscience. This type of nonsensical accusations has been going on for every President in recent memory. The people are over zealous with anti government positions, when it comes to lambasting whatever political party is in power that they oppose, and praising them, when they favor the political party in charge. Madness, brought on by extreme political bias.  (Sep 30, 2014 | post #2)

The Tea Party and Ayn Rand

Ayn Rand has alot to do with Libertarians as well. Tea Party members are more Christian, and Ayn Rand is certainly atheist. Rand has a lot of issues, building fairly logical ideology off of ultimately illogical premises. This hooks people, and somehow they become similar to cultists. I wouldn't put Tea partiers or Libertarians in the same group as Randians though, it doesn't seem fair to either.  (Sep 30, 2014 | post #16)

How do you know?

I only share these tidbits of information to help my local community. Too often, people don't know how to think. Hopefully someone can take this to heart, learn something, and change their outlook on how people, most importantly themselves, know what they know. It is stunning how so many people in the world think what they believe is knowledge. People have a tendency to believe a lot of things, and with enough faith, people somehow transition from knowing what the believe is a belief, to thinking it is knowledge. This may be indeed a byproduct of belief itself. Once belief stands for such a long time, without self questioning and perhaps through confirmation bias this becomes the norm. Confirmation bias is the tendency to review, read, or surround yourself by things that only affirm what you want to believe, essentially staying away from contrary opinions, knowledge, or stances Humanity is typically entrapped by this, conflating beliefs with knowledge is a dangerous at times, and ultimately an inept way to think. This is not the way to conduct your life. School does little to differentiate the importance of this subject. It seems almost assumed that this little tidbit of discerning beliefs from knowledge, because it should be so obvious, yet the world runs amok with people thinking all sorts of things to be knowledge. This creates their own version of reality that differs from everyone else’s. With so many beliefs out there, its hard to even understand how people understand anything. Yet if you understand the state of the world and why there are so many problems and disagreements, you can see that this is a key factor in why it is such. The education system seems to need to focus more on this, because it is failing miserably for adults. Yes, opinions can and ought to be shared, but opinions, or even remote probabilities are portrayed adamantly as knowledge, it creates havoc with those who disagree. Tempers flare, distortions arise, and the lying begins to attempt to save face. All of this, because people truly don’t know how to think properly. There is one thing that people should ponder, think about, until it becomes prevalent in there way of thinking: Knowing when you do not know, is the root of wisdom. From there, applying your knowledge, remembering that you may not know what you think to be true is true, questioning things, and you can go a long way in obtaining peace and understanding. Often, most people experience grief by being confronted with something that flies in the face of what they thought they know. Being just a little wise about your opinions, knowing when they are unknowns, can prepare you and propel you to brighter greater things, peace of mind, and ultimately happiness.  (Sep 30, 2014 | post #1)

Hey,I'm not the one insulting people who are asking earnest questions, out of the blue. It's unwarranted, uncalled for. If you want to condone that type of behavior, go right ahead, I'll call you out on that as well. Anyone telling people to "not open their mouth" on issues, is as bad as a self righteous dictator who silences anyone they disagree with. Fortunately, for the rest of the world, nobody is going to listen to your silly opinion that people should not "open their mouth" It is key, that people communicate, to learn and to grow. Dissuading such, leads people to nowhere. Progress is made through communication, and effective communication at that. Not slandering and insulting people at every whim, just because they disagree with what they said, or even more absurdly, what they asked.  (Sep 30, 2014 | post #19)

1. I will educate people to help make reality a bit better. Fantasy land is not where I can move, I understand reality. 2. Here I am doing something for myself by communicating ways to effectively communicate better, yet you find it... doing nothing. Excellent observation. 3. I'm right, you're wrong. You get over it.  (Sep 30, 2014 | post #17)

I agree, there's a way to rationally get that point across instead of insulting people and being a sarcastic douchebag. Decent Communication is lacking all of the Internet, be part of the solution, not the problem.  (Sep 30, 2014 | post #14)

If you are one of the douche bags that posted here, then you're "only having fun" is at others expenses, and that is essentially the mind of a grade school bully who hasn't matured and is now posting on community forums to bully adults, because they can't just go up to any adult and start talking like that without getting into some trouble. Now this is my business, people like you are the scourge of the United States, among others.. Always dividing, never contributing, being an a-hole, to make yourself feel better. Perhaps educating yourself, will actually help you feel better, instead of beating down others with your juvenile online bullying.  (Sep 29, 2014 | post #8)

Such lovely members of the community so welcome of an open discussion. Straight to the insults yes? How dare you ask questions. In any case, I imagine the child will get reprimanded, hopefully accordingly.  (Sep 29, 2014 | post #4)

We Are At War

The root of wisdom, is knowing when you do not know. Intelligence, is applying that as well as your knowledge. Curiosity leads you to know new things. When I'm confronted with different claims that what I am accustomed to, when I know I don't know, I ask questions. Questions and questioning, go a very long way, even if you think someone is lying.  (Sep 29, 2014 | post #80)

No, by all means, assume everything. It will take you far, to the stars! Assume the national security of this country is safe in my hands as well! Assume its not! Assume you know what you're talking about, and assume everyone else doesn't.  (Sep 29, 2014 | post #79)
