As an Indian-American I am proud to see a Sikh stand up for his country. (Mar 23, 2010 | post #1)
The problems will stop when people will realize that not all Muslims are terrorist. It will take some time but eventually the truth will sink in. (Jan 2, 2009 | post #4)
More leftist nonsense regarding Palestinian terrorism and Israeli defense against such attacks. I guess a suicide bomber blowing up a resturant is just while using a smart bomb to destroy a terrorist back operation is criminal. Israel is not innocent in all of its action but let's remember who the true criminals are. (Dec 30, 2008 | post #1)
Hamas is to blame for the plight of the Palestinian people in Gaza. It was their missiles that forced the Israelis to attack Gaza. While Israel needs to also provied humanitarian aid to civilians, it is Hamas that is responsible for the destruction that the Palestinian people are facing once more. (Dec 30, 2008 | post #33)
Not likely. America is a more united country than most people think. (Dec 30, 2008 | post #1)
The European Union represents the best chance for peace and stability in Europe. Considering that half a dozen of these countries were at war with each other during most of their histories, the European Union has done something that would have seem impossible 100 years ago. (Dec 28, 2008 | post #1)
I am Indian so I find you belief somewhat amusing. The Indian and African-American experience in America are different in everyway. Africans, of course, were brought over as slaves and had to deal with the abuse of that industry and then the offensive Jim Crow laws once slavery was abolished. The Civil Rights movement was able to bring rights to African-Americans but even now there is still a struggle. Indians are some of the most educated and wealthy immigrants who have entered this country. They were not slaves and nor have they been looked down upon. Indians are either white as a European or can be dark as African but most of the time we are in between. (Dec 28, 2008 | post #2658)
Hamas is facing the situation that Hezbollah also faced in 2006. However, the difference is that this time the IDF knows that ground invasions are not the way to stop rocket attacks. The air offensive will not only break Hamas supplies and damage its leadership but will also limit Israeli casualties. Israel doesn't need to do this too long. However, if Hamas continues to fire long range missiles than Israel will of course continue the offensive. The tragedy would be if Hamas continues the missiles even though it knows it cannot defeat Israel. (Dec 28, 2008 | post #1)
The reality is that Europe's demographics are shrinking because they don't want kids. Muslim demographics are increasing because they are having kids. Economics is behind this since Europeans know that having too many children isn't something that is easy or neccessary. Muslims of course are still not as wealthy but when they reach that level their numbers will also start to drop off as they become more "European ". You seem to have no understanding of the fact that Islam has played an important role in Europe's history. The Islamic rule of Spain was one of the golden times of that country's history considering that most of Europe at the time was lost in the dark ages. Sicily also enjoyed a stable Islamic rule until it was assimilated by the Normans who took advantage of the Arab culture. The Ottomans may be known mostly today for their wars but they also had a cultural strength that lasted for centuries which acted as a bridge between east and west. Europe's identity has always changed depending on the century. The rise of Muslim populations is not a threat but another chapter to an already complex history. (Dec 27, 2008 | post #458)
Israel has the right to challenge those who threaten its existence. Why is it that every other country can defend itself but not Israel? Israel did the correct thing by attacking the political and military wing of Hamas which will weaken its hold over the Gaza. Those killed were mainly security personal as well as possible political leaders. It has to be accepted, though, that Israel is not a perfect country and that it has treated the Palestinians badly. That doesn't give Hamas, the PLO, or any other Palestinian group the right to seek Israel's destruction. Israel has the right to exist as does any Palestinian country. (Dec 27, 2008 | post #60)
I see no problem with this. Why do you care if someone else speaks Spanish? Notice that this is a bilingual school and not a Spanish only school. Those who attend here still speak English even if they choose to speak Spanish among themselves. I believe this will help also their understand of English by being exposed to it on a educational level. (Dec 27, 2008 | post #14)
Israel has the right to strike at Gaza if it will end the rocket attacks on their cities. It shows the abilities of the Israelis to launch an offensive that targets dozens of Hamas compounds in a single day. Yes, many died but if they belonged to the Hamas political and military wing then Israel did the right thing. Israelis cannot live in terror and do nothing while Hamas has continued its own war. The divorce rate in the United States is almost 1 in 2, cohabitation is becoming more popular than marriage, the homicide rate is one of the highest in the West.... We can complain about any culture if we really want to. (Dec 24, 2008 | post #55)
I find it sad that so many really don't know anything about Islam. When people say they don't like "Islam", which Islam are they talking about? Sunni Islam? Shia Islam? Sufi Islam? Believing that there is only one form of Islam is like believing that there is only one form of Christianity. Islam is one of the most important civilizations that formed during the past 1400 years. Its influence has reached as far as Asia, to Europe, and Africa. Only Christianity and Buddhism rivals it for the amount of religious influence that is has given. I hope someone takes up the offer to learn about this amazing religion. (Dec 24, 2008 | post #54)
