Redwood City Traffic Trap

Screw the fake “I did not know” or “I am from out of town.” The problem exists when you feign ignorance and cause accidents so that you can avoid waiting behind the 6 cars already stacked up patiently waiting their turn. I know that intersection well and 90% of you are just trying to skirt traffic. Now let us assume you really did mess up and get in the wrong lane. In this case you should suck it up and stay in YOUR lane and get on the freeway and double back. Ever notice that the bike lane is separated by a solid white line, and that 100 feet before an intersection it becomes broken? There may be a reason for that, what do you suppose it is? If I am to gather your argument is that you can break the vehicle code because you messed up, then I also gather that you are the guy who missed his exit on the freeway and backs up, or slows down to 25mph to get over simply because you got to get there. I am not an innocent man and I have done some stupid things driving, but make a conscious effort to take my time in the car early, late, or on time. It is my guess that you actually made that lane change while cutting off other vehicles who were obeying the law. Own up to your mistake and pay your fine. The vehicle code {VC} you violated should be written on your ticket, look that up. For your legal education I submit the following: Turning Movements and Required Signals 22107. No person shall turn a vehicle from a direct course or move right or left upon a roadway until such movement can be made with reasonable safety and then only after the giving of an appropriate signal in the manner provided in this chapter in the event any other vehicle may be affected by the movement. Amended Ch. 1996, Stats. 1959. Effective September 18, 1959. Source: http://www.dmv.ca. gov/pubs/vctop/d11 /vc22107.htm  (Jul 11, 2008 | post #22)

Downtown Redwood City – Gang Banger problem

You hit it on the head! Sheriff office is less proactive and RCPD would clean house if allowed to. This is not to knock the Sheriff's office, it is just true.  (Jul 9, 2008 | post #132)

Downtown Redwood City – Gang Banger problem

Redwood City is beautiful; I spend a lot of time there. I will not pretend that there is not a problem with these “gangs,” I have seen them. However, the term problem is not accurate; I see it as an issue, which RCPD has dealt with very well. That police unit we see in front or the theatre is just one aspect of the solution. I LOVE SEEING THEM SITTING OUT THERE! As for walking through Sequoia Station to downtown, I feel safe. I have seen the police approaching people, like those we are discussing, and talking with them. There is no substitute for proactive policing. I smile every time I see an officer talking to a potential trouble maker. That potential trouble maker is now aware that there is policeman who has seen him, and to some extent knows him. It is less likely that the trouble maker will do anything which will attract attention because of it. It is not fool proof of course; we can never be completely shielded from the criminal activity they may commit. Instead of attacking the mayor, or police chief, try this: Go up to one of your policemen and let him know that he is doing a good job, and that you appreciate him/her for his/her presence. I think knowing that his community is behind him goes a lot further to encourage proactive policing than negative energy directed toward the mayor.  (Jul 9, 2008 | post #124)
