Gonso to lead search for next IU coach

you are kidding right? morgan had a career 245-323 b10 record, and was 18-45 in the last 2 years. don't be fooled by the fact that he beat up on a bunch of d2 teams in the non-conference ov his 30 year career at indiana. btw, he resigned and wasn't fired. you can argue if it was forced or not, but that would be pure speculation.  (Mar 17, 2008 | post #85)

Gonso to lead search for next IU coach

To all of the people who want Greenspan fired first think about this: Since 2000, former Athletic Director Michael McNeely received $839,000 from IU, and former menís basketball coach Mike Davis got $800,000. Former football coach Gerry DiNardo received $616,000, former football coach Cam Cameron got $498,000, and former menís basketball coach Bob Knight received $283,000. All of these buyouts for hires that Greenspan had nothing to do with is why IU (not just Greenspan) took a chance on KS. Because of his infractions at Oklahoma they could get a really good head coach cheap. Unfortunately Sampson was arrogant enough to think that he could get away with the same violations without being caught. You cannot blame Greenspan for IU hoping this guy would learn his lesson. The alternative would have been getting another unproven coach since they could not afford to pay a top flight candidate. When looking at the circumstances present at the time, going for KS had as good as chance to work out as higher anyone else that the athletic department could afford. Maybe even better. The actual blame should be placed on the previous administration who made several bad choices by hiring to lame football coaches and a lame basketball coach (Davis) with huge contracts. So looking forward I don't think we should want IU to fire Greenspan and put the university in further bind when it tries to hire the future leader of the main athletic program.  (Mar 17, 2008 | post #73)

because they already have buyouts for several former coaches and a former a.d. (to no fault of greenspan). this is actually why greenspan took a chance on sampson to begin with. he could get a good coach for cheap. unfortunately it didn't work.  (Mar 17, 2008 | post #64)

IU's Gordon: No need to worry

i would have to say that he has changed defensively. the group was not good enough to play man-to-man, ks recognized that and used zones to help. dakich for what ever reason has refused to use a zone.  (Mar 10, 2008 | post #63)

Could do you do us all a favor and add a few more puns to your comments. I am sure that I speak for everyone when I say there is just not enough of your funny, witty play-on-words. Seriously, why did you leave the NBA out, that is just begging for it? Or how about one for Illinois?  (Mar 10, 2008 | post #48)

Of course they would fall for a jump fake, they have never seen one in practice.  (Mar 10, 2008 | post #46)

IU's Gordon: No need to worry

Are you kidding? That is all the NBA is. A bunch of guys who posture and cry to the refs when they don't get their way, putting up 30 to 40 shots a game to get their 20+ points. And playing a bunch of one-on-one street ball while trying to make highlight reel moments for ESPN. Sounds like he is ready to me.  (Mar 10, 2008 | post #45)
