Police ask for help in locating missing Gloucester teen

I wonder when this child was actually *reported* missing. I find it difficult to believe the Sheriff's office is just now getting started, especially with the weather we've just had.  (Feb 8, 2010 | post #2)

Local father convicted twice of beating, paralyzing his t...

Just for comparison, there is a story in the Times Dispatch this morning about a former Fire Chief in Louisa County who was convicted of sexually abusing a girl. He was sentenced to 88 years. This turd nearly killed two children, has crippled them for life, and all he gets is 21 years?! He and the Fire Chief should be life-long cell mates at the very least.  (Feb 6, 2010 | post #18)

Why is Gov. Kaine Not in Virginia During a State of Emerg...

I don't mind so much that the useless twit isn't here... but why is he not allowing the Lt. Gov. to sign the emergency declaration? Right now the state is running emergency ops on a verbal.  (Nov 13, 2009 | post #2)

Court says bank must pay for car note mistake

Excellent! I hope this guy hit the bank hard in punitive damages. The arrogance of financial institutions, combined with their ability to inflict personal damage on their targets, constitutes a predatory business as far as I'm concerned.  (May 15, 2008 | post #1)

Sen. Webb pledges assistance in tornado recovery

"We're doing everything we can to make sure the rigth assistance is on the ground," Webb said in a brief interview. You gotta be kidding! This gas-bag isn't in charge of FEMA and doesn't have anything to do with emergency response. Webb is the kind of useless politician that just gets in the way when serious business needs to get done.  (Apr 29, 2008 | post #1)

Obama knows the hood only

True - but I am even more amuzed by Hillary suddenly attempting to position herself as pro-gun, and pro-religion. That godless woman will say *anything* to get elected! This very well may be the setup for the democratic party to implode. Right now Hillary is well positioned to win Pennsylvania, following Obama's arrogant and offensive remarks. That would keep the witch in the race and the delegates narrowly divided. Both Obama and Hillary are far too proud to concede to the other for the sake of the party. Hillary is already pressuring the remaining undecided delegates. If she bribes, coercises, or cajoules the delegates into nominating her over the popular vote... this could lead to the total breakdown of the DNC. Beautiful! :-)  (Apr 15, 2008 | post #2)

Miami U. students 'nail' support for Hokies

I wonder how many 'men' will comply with this pathetic ruse to symbolically emasculate themselves as an apology to the church of liberal feminism for being born of the male species. Try to imagine the tone and tenor of Michael Savage asking this question: WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE TO GET PEOPLE TO WAKE THE "F" UP AND REALIZE WHAT IS GOING?  (Apr 15, 2008 | post #1)

Should the US have universal healthcare?

They way our government blunders through with existing programs, and I cannot understand why ANYONE would think it's a good idea to let the government manage their healthcare. They can't even deliver the mail in a reliable fashion...  (Apr 13, 2008 | post #17677)

Gas prices hit record in Virginia

Well let's assume for just a moment, that your theory is correct. Than why are we still pumping billions of dollars into Iraq? Let's look at the reality of our situation. 1) We are dependent upon foreign oil. OPEC controls the price of crude oil. They are primarily arab counties who by-the-way, aren't particuluarly fond of Bush. 2) On the international market, the price of crude has remained fairly constant, EXCEPT for the US dollar. As our economy spirals downward and inflation rises, the value of our dollar declines. Yes, we are paying more per barrel than we used to, but it's because our dollar isn't worth a dollar. 3) The environmental movement has made us dependent on foriegn oil. Thanks to all of the red tape, enviromental impact studies, political ralleys, etc., we can't drill for oil in ANWR, and we can't drill for oil in the gulf (despite the fact that just about every other country is doing exactly that right now). We also have not built a new oil refinery in several years and the refineries along the gulf coast that were taken off line after hurricane katrina are still not 100 percent operational, because they are fighting the environmentalists. We have also not built a nuclear reactor in over 20 years. The bottom line here is that we have an artificial supply and demand problem. 4) Just because oil companies are taking in record revenue, that does not neccessarily mean they are making record profits. Their cost of business is going up as well. The price of fuel will continue to rise until it reaches the point where people stop buying the product because it's too expensive. The market will eventually stabalize, but only after people resist. I predict that when fuel becomes so expensive that people cannot afford to go to work, rioting will begin.  (Apr 13, 2008 | post #141)

The Tech massacre, a year later

I'm afraid the by-line pretty much says it all: Total safety may be impossible. I think the only thing lacking in that statement is one minor correction to replace the words 'may be' with 'is'. After one year we have a new law that REQUIRES a judge to report the mental health status of those they order into mental health treatment. I still maintain that the previous law did not PREVENT a judge from doing so If they thought the subject was a danger to the community. We have witnessed tragedy and suffering turn to a national spectacle as the ardent anti-gun movement exploited personal pain to advance their own political agenda. Regretably, our own Governor and former State Police Superintendent facilitated the involvement of these national level private interests in a what most of us view as a local and state issue. We watched as Virginians band together in loving memory of those lost, and with prayers and hope for those wounded. Donations and offers of assistance poured in. A memorial fund was established, although a concise purpose for the fund was never made clear. To assist us with the use and disbursement of the funds, we brought in an expert. The same man who disbursed the 9/11 funds, which was clouded in controversy. Hence it was no surpirse the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund was also mired with conflict. How does one put a price on the life of your child? Apparently Gov. Kaine and his blue ribbon panel had derived the answer of $100,000. The family's settled at 11 million. Was it really about the money? Is the Commonwealth actually liable for the actions of a single lunatic? Generally I would say no, other than that nagging little issue of the judge who had the opportunity to report Cho, but did not. Yep - I think the Commonwealth deserves this one. Which brings me back to the beginning. Is your safety guaranteed by the Commonwealth? Absolutely not. No amount of laws on the books are going to assure your protection. We have to be responsible for ourselves at all times.  (Apr 13, 2008 | post #1)
