LGBTQ prom set for Cabrillo: Funding controversy does not...

All the best to these wonderful people! I went to a UCSC "Pride Prom" as a community member once myself, and am very proud to see Cabrillo in on the act now as well.  (Nov 27, 2010 | post #21)

KZSC's eclectic mix wins national recognition

KZSC is the best! Their Closet-Free Radio show in particular has meant so much to so many people over the years.  (Nov 14, 2010 | post #7)

Parents of preschoolers protest medical pot shops next door

Gosh, what if there was a grocery store with a pharmacy next door -- people might buy medicine there as well! With a preschool in particular, the children are going to be supervised and fenced in all times -- I don't think there is a problem there, speaking as a parent myself.  (Nov 10, 2010 | post #34)

UC set to tackle pension reform

Big UGH to people who call cutting employee benefits "reform" -- if the UC President's salary were cut I doubt he would refer to that as "salary reform".  (Nov 1, 2010 | post #27)

As you can guess from my name I'm a longtime Westside resident, but I don't care where council members live -- I care whether they will stick up for social services and justice, for example keeping the branch libraries open and not arresting people for sleeping.  (Oct 24, 2010 | post #40)

Sentinel commenting policy

Glad to see it! I cannot believe the hateful garbage (for example, racist slurs) I have seen people spewing in Sentinel comments sometimes, and I hope you will be active about deleting that kind of stuff.  (Aug 30, 2010 | post #5)

Santa Cruz police light up camping protest with floodlights

What a lot of rubbish! A man with a police record turning up at a peaceful protest is not justification for harassing and scapegoating all the other protesters, any more than the people with outstanding warrants and drugs and so on that the police turn up every day when stopping people for minor traffic violations would be justification for harassing and making insinuations about all the other drivers.  (Aug 19, 2010 | post #65)

Electric car stations coming to Santa Cruz County

Good for Capitola! I wish Santa Cruz leaders would spend more time sticking up for the library branches, and less time harassing people for sleeping or walking down the street.  (Aug 19, 2010 | post #1)

This is not "a significant victory for city officials", this is a significant LOSS for all of Santa Cruz -- it's a very sad day for our supposedly progressive community when petty control freaks in power violate our first amendment right "of the people peaceably to assemble".  (Aug 16, 2010 | post #32)
