Why ObamaCare is sinking

How about post 1356 in which you said "Your daddies copied, I mean based, most of the constitution on Freemasonary. It was an experiment. They got lucky and got it right but they had no clue about the country's future beliefs or anything else that has changed since they died. That's why it's a short document. So it can be interpreted. And who gets to interpret it? Well it's not you!" You may not have said it was irrelevent, but you did call it an "experiement " that was lucky to get it right. And why do you feel the need to insult everyone who disagrees with you? All it does is make you arguments easier to ignore as baseless rantings  (Aug 7, 2009 | post #1546)

So if the recession worsens, unemployment continues to climb or there is a terrorist attack against the US, are you going to accept responsibility, or will you just blame Bush? I'll bet on the latter. Just like how Obama campaigned on a platform of "hope against fear tactics" then to get the stimulus passed he laid on the fear hot and heavy, pushing for a vote even before Congress had a chance to read what they voted on, using the claim that "if this doesn't pass right now, unemployment could go as high as 8.5%" Responding to fear, the bill passed, and what has happened to unemployment  (Aug 7, 2009 | post #1544)

But when AFSCME buses latinos (many of whome aren't members) around the country in support of immigration "reform" it is ok? Do you feel that a corporation (an organization owned by stockholdhers who also are taxpayers) should not be protected by the First Amendment, but Unions should be? I guess equal protection under the law only means something when the liberal viewpoint is being expressed  (Aug 6, 2009 | post #1470)

Irregardless of where the Constitution came from, it is recognized as the law of the land. Funny how the very people who ran around screaming how Bush was trampling on the civil rights accorded in the Constitution, now are calling the Constitution "irrelevent " while Obama asks people to turn in to the White House those who disagree with the health care plan  (Aug 6, 2009 | post #1468)

People with insurance have every right to fear these changes. For example, from Subsection (A) Section 102 of HR 3200 comes this: (1) LIMITATION ON NEW ENROLLMENT- (A) IN GENERAL- Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day of Y1. (B) DEPENDENT COVERAGE PERMITTED- Subparagraph (A) shall not affect the subsequent enrollment of a dependent of an individual who is covered as of such first day. This pretty much states that existing plans cannot accept new enrollment after this bill is enacted, meaing that if you have insurance, your ability to switch insurers is restricted. And as for people from outside of the district attending, the politicians of both party site the first amendment as allowing them to accept campaign contributions from those outside of their district, why don't citizens who actually want to speak with their voices get the same protection  (Aug 6, 2009 | post #1467)

If you are referring to Harder, the decision failed to address (apparently intentionally) the question if the 2nd applies to the states, or is the only one of the basic rights that is limited to the Federal Government. Even the the first, the ONLY amendment worded to make it clear that it should only apply to the Federal Government (Congress shall make no law...) was extented to the states  (Aug 5, 2009 | post #1319)

You mean the strict constructionists who claim that the "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be enfringed" doesn't mean that? If the courts are able to ignore the 10th amendment and the 2nd amendment, how long until they allow the limitation of free speech, or the suspension of speedy trials  (Aug 5, 2009 | post #1299)

Let's see, it was critical that Geithner be the Sec. Treasury because he was so good at financial dealings. Then it comes out that he wrote off his kid's summer camp as "dependent care" which is clearly spelled out under the tax code (and on the forms and instructions) that ONLY certain types of day care providers are covered. Then it is revealed that he forgot to pay 35,000 in self employment taxes, despite the fact that he filed the paperwork to get reimbursed the money to pay the taxes with the contracted agency (the IMF). His defense? Well, first it was because he didn't realize that he was self employed, he thought he was an employee. Then when it was pointed out that 1 - It was in his employment agreement, and 2 - that he filed for reimbursement he changed his story to blame the mistake on Turbo Tax. However, if you use the right edition of Turbo Tax it does all the calculations for you (I know I was self employed for part of last year). But this is the only person capable of doing this job  (Aug 5, 2009 | post #1298)

If there is no wait for care in Canada, and treatment is plentiful, please explain this story http://www.canada. com/calgaryherald/ story.html?id=41cc ae74-8325-449a-b89 f-e68957ca25ae &k=79546 in which a woman from Calgary (not exactly a rural, low population density area) had to be airlifted to a US Hospital to give birth to quadruplets. And where was this hospital you might ask, was it in New York, Chicago or Seattle, how about May Clinic? No, actually it was in Great Falls Montana, a city with a population of 57,000 people. So if the Canadian system has enough doctors and capacity, why do they rely on the US to provide backup support? By the way, Calgary has a population of 1.2 million, so to not have the capability to deliver a set of quads seems to be a major deficiency  (Aug 5, 2009 | post #1292)

Convicted, no one. Had to pay back taxes and interest (but oddly enough, no penalty), Tim Geithner, who backed out because of tax issues, Tom Daschle among others, who backed out because of a corruption investigation, Bill Richardson  (Aug 5, 2009 | post #1287)

While your statement that "Nobody's telling you to get rid of your insurance" is technically correct, what about this from House Bill 3200? Subsection A, section 102 (1) LIMITATION ON NEW ENROLLMENT- (A) IN GENERAL- Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day of Y1. (B) DEPENDENT COVERAGE PERMITTED- Subparagraph (A) shall not affect the subsequent enrollment of a dependent of an individual who is covered as of such first day. Doesn't that state that if this bill in enacted, once it takes effect that private insurance providers, including those contracted to by employers, will be unable to accept new enrollments? So while you can keep your current insurance, if you change jobs (or if your employer offers multiple plans, with the option of changing plans at a set time every year), you cannot change plans, except to the Public "option. " Kind of makes it a lot less of an "option" and more of a requirement doesn't it? Full text of bill: http://www.opencon gress.org/bill/111 -h3200/text  (Aug 5, 2009 | post #1187)

Well you keep talking about how there are time limits on government assistance for able-bodied people. Just a reminder, who'se idea was this? I believe that it was the GOP, and the idea was derided by many on the left as racist and mean spirited  (Aug 5, 2009 | post #1180)
