Kroger Buying Shaw's?

I just gt my flyer for the weekstarting july 5th til the 11th..Some vry goos prices ..Finallly someone got offtheir butts and did some actual work I am not trying to nit pick as this is the best flyer I have seen from shaws in years , but the meat buyer still has part of his head stuck up his ass, on the front page he has london broil [shoulde steak boneless] which is the cut you are suppoed to use fr london broil. as most of us know, London broil is not a cut of mea but a way of cooking a cut of meat. Mot often it from a boneless shoulder a fore quaer piece of meat with lots f flavrand very good if marrinated and ooked in your oven using the broilerorore often on grill outside. Then on the next page he offers us bottom round steak for london broil .. hat is sheer stupidity on his part and an attempt to trick either the less educated as far as cuts of meats go or he is trying to make etra money ... Never use bottom round for london broil .also they ofen offer top round steak for london broil as well, a trick that hnnafords uses all the time ... this is a terrible cut of meat and should be used for anything other than steak... it doesn't evn make good hamburg because it is hind quarter beef and aks any marbeling and taste and it could be used for stew meat and aybe hamburg as long as uyu mix it with someforequuarter meat ..also spli chicken breast.. bone i at $29 ???? this is a rip off .... ou seemed o be doing so well with this flyer and then you go and pull thee same old dirty tricks... shame on you  (Jul 6, 2013 | post #1044)

They are using the same tactic the Unted States Governent is using: just keep repeating the same old lines of B.S. and lies and eventually the sheeple will believe you ...not any more.It is all gonna come crashing down and then it will be too late!!  (Jun 28, 2013 | post #1037)

They insist on playing the same old stupid games ..If they continue with them they will go out of business  (Jun 21, 2013 | post #1012)

Center Barnstead, NH

Gilmanton Police Dept....does anyone care?

HI, I am from Barnstead and i have no complaints here. I actually stumbled upon this site. My only reason for posting at all is to correct a few Englsh mistakes Belmont guy : you wrote this " unsubstantiated (that means false) " You are wrong. Unsubstantiated does not mean wrong at all. It simply means the someone made a claim about something but they have no proof to back it up ..that is unsubstantiated ! Doesn't mean he is wrong ,,he just has no proof ..  (Sep 3, 2012 | post #1436)

I looked at that site a few years ago for something other than a supermarket .It was not clean then and I am sure it has gone down hill since..I would not consider it today for sure mparticularly with the state of our economy . The rental rates have not gone down in spite of our failing economy . Not a nice place to invest a million dollars !  (Jul 11, 2012 | post #686)

Will, I think you are correct and I hate to " nit pik " but your first line is poorly written... you say that Supervalu inherited the mess that was created by Albertsons..I know what you mean but I think that your first sentence should read " "no doubt supervalu is to blame in that they went out of their way to buy Albertsons in spite of the cluster %^$# that it was and then failed to do the proper thing, the thing they originally intended to do and that is /was to clean up the mess and put albertsons/shaws back on track..They knew full well what they were getting into and did nothing about it " The ceo 's and CFO's etc at Supervalu are now the laughing stock of the supermarket world ,mostly for not having the balls to stand up to stock holders,do the right thing and then take a bow for what they accoplished  (Jun 22, 2012 | post #684)

A while back I mentioned that Artie Demoulas had bought a small grocery chain in Rhode Island. It was closed [out of businesss ] when he bought it and I believe there were about 13 stores....someone said "Almacs" or something like that...any word on the street? is/was there such a chain in R.I. ? I know he simply wrote out a check and paid cash ...whay say you all ?  (May 1, 2012 | post #670)

Your points about chapter 11 make perfect sense IF shaws is still a free standing corporation ,,simply a corporation in and of itself that is simply owned by another entity. Then chapter 11 makes very good sense..allows themto get rid of excess bulk and get rid of the unions at the same time,,they then emerge as a stonger company worth others bidding for ... time will tell.  (Mar 5, 2012 | post #656)

Kroger Buying Shaw's?

Here is a post from a different posting on this forum. ""Wal-Ma rt is finally acquiring 3 grocery competitors in all 50 U.S. states, which were Idaho-based Albertsons, California-based Safeway, and Ohio-based Kroger in July 5, 2012, which celebrates Wal-Mart's 50th anniversary. According to some of the staff from Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., many of the supermarkets from three of their grocery competitors anywhere in the United States are being expanded and converted to Wal-Mart's hypermarket concept brand in 2012 and 2013, which combine more than 30 expanded general merchandise departments as well as a full-line supermarket. These include expansions in the U.S. states of Hawaii and Vermont, which means that the first of its stores will open there in both U.S. states by 2012 and 2013. As a result, fast-food outlets in all of these stores being converted from three of their grocery competitors can either be McDonald's or Subway, but sometimes others. In addition, mall-like areas in these stores feature local banks, the "Family Fun Center" concept, hair and nail salons, etc.; becoming as its own result from Mike Duke, the current CEO/chairman of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc."" I am not certain exactly what it means but I have asked for clarification ... update coming soon  (Dec 24, 2011 | post #627)
