Lying and cheating in Dixie Youth Baseball: Lumberton, NC

Ooops! Another "supporter " who just can't seem to grasp the nature of this forum. This isn't about personal faults. This isn't a judgment column. This is an attempt at exposing wrongdoings. As if this point hasn't been made enough. What good would it do for us to go to another town? Are you implying that you are ok with these guys breaking the rules? Are you implying that you don't care if your child plays for a corrupt league? Let me guess,as long as your child makes the all stars, it's all good, right? Unbelievable! Keep skirting the real issues. I love the intellectual levels prevalent on the LYBA side. While you're at it, can I get fries with my value meal?  (Jul 8, 2012 | post #121)

Seminoles, in case you haven't noticed, the idiots are mainly putting a disagree mark on your entries. It doesn't appear that they are even paying attention to the context of your comments. When you listed examples of the rules that were broken, they disagreed!?! Really? How can you disagree with facts? Idiots. So, to make sure I have this right, they don't think any rules were broken? They really are as pompous and stupid as I first thought. They are like a bunch of maggots, and you've just turned over the rotting carcass they were hiding under. Now they're squirming and trying to wriggle out of another mess. Mind you, this is a mess of their own making, and they deserve everything that is coming their way. I am not surprised that they haven't put up an argument or a defense. They know what they've done, and have been doing for years. They just never expected anyone to stand up to them. Now all they can do is lash out and try to find ways to cheat the system, again. Keep up the fight, bro. But, let me remind you of one thing: it is no different in Minors. We are moving up to Majors in the Spring, and I am sure it will continue there also. So, while I applaud the effort to change things, don't be disappointed if nothing changes. As long as coaches sit on the board, nothing will change. As long as concerned parents and coaches continue to stand up for what is right, we can limit their power and influence, which is better than nothing.  (Jul 8, 2012 | post #120)

Play by the rules? Thank these coaches for enforcing them? Yes, Pembroke was wrong for trying to slide an older player in...shame on them. Let's look at some of the rules infractions committed by these fine, upstanding LYBA coaches/board members. They allow two coaches who live out of district to coach, sit on the board, and coach allstars...but they told two other potential coaches they could not coach because they lvied out of district. These three allow a player who lives out of district to play in the regular season and play on allstars (against the rules, btw) yet they told two other players (who live closer) that live out of district that they couldnt play. When the parents started calling Dixie youth, these three backtracked and allowed the two boys to play, then told their parents that the boys could not play on allstars because they lived out of district. The same three coaches that vote no on coaches that they don't like..regardless of their abiities. The same coaches who sit in meetings and trash players/coaches. If you only knew the things they say about the players in this league, you wouldn't be so quick to defend them. The same coaches who meet privately before the season and plan their "draft" to assure they get the players they want in their division. The same coaches who say they only care about allstars. And, it appears, the same coaches who obviously cannot spell, or have plenty of friends who can't, either. I agree with Facts...maybe it's time you take a grammar class.  (Jun 28, 2012 | post #37)

Yes, congratulations are in order for the West Robeson Nationals! Great job, boys! And, congratulations to all the boys and girls who played in every league this year. We saw some great plays, and some great games. You all are learning to become men, and women, while on the ballfield. Please don't emulate Chris Connor, Chris Hodge, Robert Brewington, and any others who put all stars ahead of your learning and well being. Listen to your Dads, as they always know more than those morons.  (Jun 27, 2012 | post #19)

OMG! Chris Connor? Robert Brewington? Chris Hodge? What about Ricky, Daryl, and all the other coaches who only care about all stars? Those three are not the only "liars" in LYBA. I have watched those guys ruin the reputation of LYBA over the years, conspiring amongst themselves to push their boys through and exclude so many taslented young players. This league should not be about self promotion, or the promotion of your own kids. To Luvs Baseball: you are obviously one of the three men seminoles is speaking of. So, shame on you. You certainly know a lot about the birth certificate issue...it's obvious you spent some time preparing an argument against it. Hey, if that's what it takes for you to beat West Robeson, then I hope you are happy. As for "when was Little League ever in Lumberton?" You obviously didn't grow up playing baseball in Lumberton, or you would know that your precious LYBA has not been around forever (although I am not surprised at your ignorance). Many of us grew up playing Little League baseball through the Bill Sapp Recreation Dept. Remember? Back when coaches didn't lie and cheat? Back when there was no all star team? Back when the emphasis was on TEAM, and teaching these kids how to play? The emphasis was not on pushing your own agendas and children through. It was about teaching and coaching a TEAM. As for your knee jerk (guilty) response concerning the grandfather clause, you are obviously well informed on that one, too. It must be your child that is playing illegally...And, yes, it WAS a Dixie youth rule...no longer in effect. I double checked, and the state chairman (who lives in VA????) has never heard of you or your child. So, as Facts asked....Where is this release? According to the Dixie Youth rules, there should be a written letter of exception on file with LYBA for this player....(and I am sure you will scramble to obtain one now that the cat is out of the bag). Did you guys really tell two dads they couldn't coach because they lived out of district? I surely hope that is not true. That really undermines the true intention of the sport of baseball (I mean, your nickname on this site is "Luvs Baseball") and ruins the opportunities for some really good dads to work with kids. I've sat idly by and watched all three of you coach, and I am not impressed. You do not set a good example for our kids to emulate. You are overly critical of players and other coaches, and laugh and ridicule them away from the field. I thank God my boys are not in Coach Pitch, as I would surely have had words with all three of you by now. I do, however, see the same things seminoles described happening in Minors and Majors. It is obvious that it will never stop, and we are powerless to change it. Unless, that is, we simply stop signing our kids up. Let your 12 players have the league to themselves. Then you can have a season of practices to get ready for the all stars (and you'll still get your asses kicked). I agree with seminoles, bring Little League back. And let the moms sit on the "board." Then it will actually be beneficial and worthwhile to the league and the players. Rock on WRBA!  (Jun 27, 2012 | post #17)
