Opinion: 'The Help' needs help depicting realities of civ...

Believe me, it is just a movie. It is not meant for anything other than that. If you read the book, it does give a little better picture of the 50's and the tragic ervents of the time. The author took one subject only, the mistreatment of household "help" and present the cruel picture of how they were treated. If she had covered all the ill actions of neighbor to neighbor in the movie or book it would have been 40,000 pages or longer.  (Aug 29, 2011 | post #1)

'The Help' Offers A Reflection on Courage

I lived in Jackson in 1963 - 1982 but did not have "Help." Infact I could hardly afford food back then and I cleaned my own house. I do know this book is typical of a lot of things I saw.  (Aug 25, 2011 | post #1)
