These comments have gotten so ridiculously far off the mark of the original article, why does anyone bother to make a comment about it if all they have to say is something negative about Christians and religion etc.? No matter what your comment is, if you have something to say about the original article "if being gay is so right, why do gay people feel the need to broadcast it???" then I for one would love to read it. If you're just commenting on something ignorant that someone said two months ago, ESPECIALLY if you don't quote what comment it was so that your comment makes some sense, please just move on to something more recent and comment on the topic, so that I don't get notices of new comments only to read stuff like "That was a stupid comment." I now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.  (Sep 26, 2011 | post #19627)

Debt Ceiling - Washington, DC

Taxing the rich (especially the uber rich) should definitely be part of the agreement. Why should senior citizens and disabled persons be the ones to have their incomes cut or completely taken away? You've got billionaires out there who wouldn't miss a couple million, let them put up some money; they probably wouldn't even notice the difference!  (Jul 28, 2011 | post #17)

I'm wondering the same thing. Is this considered "professional journalism" where they come from?  (Dec 17, 2010 | post #59)

Anti-gay church raided in child porn case

I'm curious about that too; why would they even mention "anti-gay "? I hope it wasn't just to garner a wider readership; that would put them on a level with The National Enquirer, making up headlines that are not true at all, but that they know will pull readers in.  (Sep 23, 2008 | post #11)

Lesbians only

No offense, but you're a bit confused here. Being homosexual is NOT a choice; but you're right when you say that you don't have to act on the "urges". Whether you have homosexual sex or not is the only choice you have, you can't choose whether to BE homosexual or not, just as you can't choose whether to be heterosexual or not. You can choose to abstain; you can choose to be celibate; you can choose to deny what you are and fake that you're the opposite, but you cannot choose what you ARE. Just like I cannot choose whether or not to be black, I cannot choose whether or not to be lesbian. What I CAN choose is what I do about it.  (Apr 25, 2008 | post #251)

NY recognizes Canadian same-sex marriages

Yeah, we like doing the Atlantic City thing, but not so much for the slots as it is for just having a day in the sun, walking on the Boardwalk, watching all the people. It's just a fun bus trip; we prefer the bus to driving up because we can relax on the bus, don't have to worry about the price of gas, etc., and we go with a big group of my father's co-workers who charter a bus and give prizes and stuff. 1. So, I just want to get this straight; we don't have to be residents, but we have to get the license in the same county where the union will be registered; are there JP's and/or ministers who can/will perform a civil union just like they do marriages? How do we find someone? 2. How long is the application/licens e good? I mean how much time after applying for it do we have to actually pick it up and use it? (If we elect not to wait the 3 days.) 3. What will be need besides the birth certificates? I'm assuming we also need ID, but what about blood tests or something? Again Tony, thank you so much for this. I wish you could have heard my other half's response when I told her... I wish you and Brian the best, (I read your profile.)and I hope everything works out for all of us.  (Aug 22, 2007 | post #77)

Tony, you have no idea how happy you've made a couple of old gay broads!! (sic) We'd considered going the Canada route, till we discovered that we'd be spending a lot of money for a trip and ceremony that wouldn't be recognized here in the States; we'd pretty much decided to settle for the domestic partnership (which is pretty much the same here as it is there, except we don't get wallet cards.)and be done with it until someone decided to do the right thing and let us get married. I wanted to take her name, but I just couldn't see being forced to go to court and legally go through that rigmarole and expense, so I'd held off. To find out that we can go to NJ (which we do regularly anyway going to Atlantic City to the casinos) and get married legally (no matter what they call it) is AWESOME. Now I just need to find out how that affects our status here in DC; like, can I just take my 'civil union license' to DMV and get my name changed on my drivers license just like a straight woman would with her marriage license... Thanks Tony, you've made our day!  (Aug 22, 2007 | post #74)

Congrats on the Domestic Partnership, Tony; I got mine in DC back in February. I'm wondering why you consider it worthless? (Just looking for your opinion.) And don't you have to be a resident of New Jersey to go the civil union route? Will Florida recognize it? (That's where Broward County is, right?)One more question, when you get a civil union, can you legally take your partner's name if you choose?  (Aug 19, 2007 | post #28)

N.J. Gay Couples Unite in Civil Unions

No Randi, you can't. Both partners have to be over 18, unmarried, and living in the same residence; at least that's the way the law in DC is. I would google 'domestic partnership' and your state to find out for sure what the laws are.  (May 24, 2007 | post #8)

Lesbian Couple in Wyo. Denied Communion

Well said. And it's a pity that the Devil has deceived so many people into hating each other, instead of doing as Christ instructed and loving one another. It's a pity that so many people have made the Devil's power so strong by doing exactly as he wants; they're causing enmity between brothers and sisters, mothers and daughters, and fathers and sons, and teaching their children to do the same. Then they come back and say WE'RE not Christian?  (May 22, 2007 | post #1981)
