Unidentified Flying Object over Grand Rapids - Sunday, 10...

At about 6:50 PM yesterday (well before sunset) I was outside of the Tip Top Deluxe Bar & Grill at the corner of Straight Avenue & Butterworth Street, about to bring my musical gear into the bar for my weekly gig with my band String Theory. I was standing in Butterworth Street - facing South towards the bar - when I noticed an object traveling westward in the sky. I then looked directly at the object, and at first glance I initially assumed it to be a large plane traveling at a low altitude. I did not see any wings on the object, so I initially figured that it was a plane flying at the angle where its wings would not be visible to me. But then I noticed that it was completely silent, which did not make sense: any plane flying close enough to appear that large should be at least somewhat audible. This struck me as odd, so I called over to my bandmate, who was standing by the door of the bar - out of view of that part of the sky - and I told him that the plane I was watching was strange. (He was talking on his cell phone at the time; he disregarded my comment and remained standing by the door of the bar.) As I continued to watch the object, it flew behind a very narrow strip of clouds. I waited for it to reemerge on the other side of the clouds. Based on the narrowness of the strip of clouds, the straight path the object had been flying, and the fact that there was clear blue sky on either side of the strip of clouds, it should have reemerged on the other side in under ten seconds, had it been a plane or even a blimp. But it never did! I stared at the sky where it had been for a few more minutes, trying to figure out where it could have gone, and waiting to see if would reappear. It did not reappear; the object had vanished. I'm interested in finding out if anyone else in Grand Rapids saw this object yesterday. If so, please post your account here, or email me if you're shy: [email protected] com -- Jim Prange  (Oct 3, 2011 | post #1)

My appearance last night at the Root Gallery on Eastern, ...

Eyewitnesses will know what the title of this thread means. To readers who weren't there: it's a long story, and I'll explain later. For now, I'm starting this thread simply to get the discussion going. I might enter this discussion later, when I have more time to write, and only if it becomes an actual discussion. OK everybody: who wants to go first?  (Mar 28, 2010 | post #1)

If Topix chooses to "semi-hide " some of my posts so that only logged-in members can see it, that's fine with me; I'd just like to get familiar with the kinds of things Topix editors look for to determine whether to "semi-hide " a post or not. The topic of this thread is a sensitive issue that hits literally close to home, so I can understand why they would have chosen to hide post #13. I expressed some ideas in that post that some might consider very controversial, and some of the people who knew Matthew might not be ready to hear an opinion about the cause of his death that is as potentially controversial as mine. If someone is truly interested in a topic and really wants to delve into a Topix thread's full content, they can just sign up for Topix and log in; it's not difficult. I'll just try to make sure to avoid posting any more "pairs" of posts on Topix where part one of the text is in one post, and part two of the text is in the other post. (If the editors were to again choose to "semi-hide " one of the pair and keep the other one public, the public post will inevitably be misunderstood by readers who are not logged in, being out of context.) Another question for whoever might be able to answer: is post #19 semi-hidden because it's considered "advertising? " The post consisted entirely of my lawyer recommendation, and includes the lawyer's contact info. So, I was guessing they may have chosen to "semi-hide " that post because it could be considered "advertising. " Maybe someone more familiar with Topix could fill me inI have no intention to hide who I am, and I'm sure many people reading this have already figured it out. My profile headline reads "James Matthew Prange," which is my real name. I attended the East Grand Rapids School system for eight years; I started fifth grade in 1985 at Breton Downs Elementary, and I graduated from East Grand Rapids High School in 1993. One that note, I still haven't figured out how to include my email address in my profile. So, if any of Matthew Bolick's family or friends would like to contact me, feel free to either email me at [email protected] com or call me.  (Mar 15, 2010 | post #24)

A question for either Topix admin or those who are more experienced with Topix than me: Why is it that when I'm logged out of Topix, only my second post on this thread is visible? Were the other two "flagged " by someone as something that should be only visible to people who are logged in for some reason? I have to mention this as a disclaimer, because if you read only my second post without my first post for context, you walk right into the middle of me describing an incident where police were restraining me, without hearing the first part of the story! (No wonder someone flagged it as "nuts.") When I first read the details of Matthew's breakdown and subsequent police intervention, I was struck by how similar his story was to mine. I thought: "That could have been me!" Topix admin: please "unhide" those posts for non-members, despite any complaints that might have convinced you they're "potentially offensive." In my first post, I was describing my own one-night experience with "excited delirium syndrome," in the hopes it might potentially give Matthew's friends and family a little understanding as to what really happened to him.  (Mar 15, 2010 | post #20)

In my case, the police officers sent to subdue me chose not to use tasers. Which was fortunate for me, since I was in the most extreme state of agitation I had ever experienced, as dozens of witnesses to my breakdown - which occured on Lake Drive between Robinson Rd. and Wealthy St - could attest. The combination of an extreme level of agitation with a taser zap is known to cause heart attacks: Heart Doctors: No Question Tasers Cause Lethal Heart Attacks - Expert opinion contradicts Taser International training guidelines Steve Watson of Infowars.net Thursday, May 22, 2008 http://www.infowar s.net/articles/may 2008/220508Tasers. htm Infowars.com 's Tasers Archive: http://www.infowar s.com/subject_arch ives/ps/tasers_arc hive.htm Discussion on Alex Jones' prisonplanet forum: http://forum.priso nplanet.com/index. php?topic=163274.0  (Mar 14, 2010 | post #14)

EGR officers cleared in man's death

We should not be directing our anger at the East Grand Rapids police officers or contempt for Matthew Bolick. We should direct it at the people who have made the decision to train police officers that tasers are "non-lethal weapons," when they have been proven to cause heart attacks. We should then fight those people by exposing the truth of the matter to a wider audience.
