Middletown is the 10th fastest dying town in the USA

Toss out the current administration: My son owns a house in Middletown, it's worth far less now than when he purchased it 10 years ago. It's pitiful. I blame the City of Middletown itself, for building everything on land they didn't own. Obviously, Franklin being a ghetto for all these years, was just waiting for the Annexation on that property to be up for renewal. Did they honestly think they would renew it? NO! The City Centre Mall was a joke from day one. It should have never been built. It took them 25 years to realized after; it was a fold. So they decide to revamp it. WHY? Not, because they should but solely because the City Commissioners/Mana gers owned too many of the properties down there. So they decide to put more monies into bad investments. This just to keep themselves from going broke. Oh and by the way, even if they lose monies, they can still write it off. All the monies they spend fixing up those old shanties are write-off's. So it's a win - win for them either way. Don't get me wrong, I like the little Pharmacy/Ice Cream shop and the Antique Store both place are nice. But the entire project is all just; too little... too late. The stores (if you choose to call them that) sat there for years with the nasty flea market stores that you couldn't afford to buy a piece of junk in, if they had something you wanted because the scary looking owner wanted $10.00 for something you wouldn't give $0.25 for. I know I went into one with my sister. Thank God we didn't catch something while we were there. I never could figure out house those people could afford the rent/lease on those buildings. Then some whiz-bang comes up with the big idea to put the Welfare off in to generate more income for the city. Now I don't have my nose turned up but most welfare recipients cannot afford to shop at a nice Mall. I could be wrong but somehow I don't see this as being a prosperous endeavor. Like I've said all along, they should throw out the current administration and get some people in there who know what they are doing and not just the ones that have a vested interest in the properties. They need to make monies, taking out needed street lights in poorer communities, using the questionable, "BIG BROTHER" street light enforcement system, plus raising the current court fees isn't going to get the job done. Get a plan people.  (Dec 31, 2008 | post #2)

Dayton Metro Library, 215 E. Third St.; 2-4 p.m. Learn about energy alternatives and conservation from local energy pioneers. Ralph Dull's Brookville farm has gained national recognition for its use of energy alternatives such as windmills, geothermal heating, and the use of rejected corn and hydrogen for fuel. Preston Mote has worked with alternative energy for years and runs his car partially on hydrogen. Dave Schmenk, Energy Manager with Montgomery County, will discuss solar and wind power and ways we all can conserve energy. Free.  (Nov 6, 2008 | post #1)

Residents may soon get choice on cable

Now on topic... I live in a part of Germantown where we cannot get cable. They won't come across the dam. So we have to pay for satelite and I would love to get cable, even with the higher rate. No complaints here. Except for the Political jargon. Please post under topics in your own town, county, state even, where it matters the most. Thank you. I vote for CABLE!  (Nov 3, 2008 | post #6)

After I posted this, I realize we are too nice. After reading some of these threads. None of these posts are by people living in or around Germantown, Montgomery, Ohio. We would never talk about people like this. The comments here are from those living in other states or some other Germantown. I wish I had signed in so I could delete it.  (Oct 29, 2008 | post #2)
