Immigrants' children: Immigrants children might get help ...

Interesting, but look at your source: http://www.adl.org /Learn/Ext_US/jare d_taylor/default.a sp?LEARN_Cat=Extre mism&LEARN_Sub Cat=Extremism_in_A merica&xpicked =2&item=taylor  (May 19, 2009 | post #223)

This further proves you are nothing but anti-Hispanic hatemonger. I am "an actual American," as you say. I write in English, not exclusively for the Spanish-language weekly you wish to associate with my name. You pull out this "anti-America n" label just trying to ignite anti-Hispanic sentiment. i just hope most other readers can see past this kind of blind hate you try to incite by repeatedly pointing out my ethnicity; they can argue on the merits of immigration policy, regardless of whether they want enforcement or reform.  (May 19, 2009 | post #188)

And you must be the person who gets to tell us who is or is not American and the right way to be pro-American, right? Do you realize how "anti-America n" your own comments are? You repeatedly post these comments, hiding behind your anonimity and citing me by name (of course, you pick on the Hispanic reporter), so I don't see much merit to what you have to say, but since other readers run into these comments, I'll just point you to one recent post on the gang issue you say I ignore: http://blogs.orlan dosentinel.com/new s_hispanicaffairs/ 2009/05/latest-gan g-bust-points-to-l arger-community-pr oblem.html However, to the larger issue you point to I must tell you that you are stating that there is a co-relation between Hispanic population growth and crime, but where is the proof? There may be more crime in Central Florida than there was 30 years ago, but all population groups have grown exponentially since then. Just last week we reported on the latest census numbers and even in times of economic slowdown we saw growth in the white, black, Hispanic and Asian population. These growing pains could hardly be linked to Hispanics alone, despite your attempt to always make that connection because of your own biases.  (May 19, 2009 | post #182)

It's obvious that neither of you read the story before posting the same comments you use on every immigration story. I quote, from the story: "Their parents have put them in a very difficult situation," said Roy Beck, director of Numbers USA, a Washington, D.C. group that advocates for reduced immigration levels. "We can't just keep having one amnesty after another without fixing the fundamental problem...We have magnets that invite people to become illegal aliens because we make it so easy for them to hold jobs." Having said this, I would add that this rhetorical game people play with terms like "undocumented immigrant," "illegal immigrant," "illegal alien," is irrelevant when it comes to telling the story. We are not hiding the fact that they crossed the border illegally. The point is made from the very first sentences in the story.  (May 19, 2009 | post #178)

Whether we use the word "alien" or not is irrelevant in the larger context of the story -- splitting hairs, I'd say, since it's sufficiently clear that we are writing about unauthorized immigrants. But just to show the original poster that he is commenting without carefully reading the story, here goes a quote, straight from the story where the word "alien" is used: "Their parents have put them in a very difficult situation," said Roy Beck, director of Numbers USA, a Washington, D.C. group that advocates for reduced immigration levels. "We can't just keep having one amnesty after another without fixing the fundamental problem...We have magnets that invite people to become illegal aliens because we make it so easy for them to hold jobs."  (May 19, 2009 | post #175)

Bishop Marcial fights for immigrants' rights

I want you to look through this interview and show me how I am being biased. And, please, don't confuse my questions with the pastor's answers.  (May 4, 2009 | post #8)

Hispanic business: Events on tap in Orlando

Ok, this story was not a challenge to see who'd come with the best stereotype. Can you have an intelligent discussion that is not demeaning of a whole ethnicity? Show us...  (Apr 17, 2009 | post #10)

In illegal-immigration fights, children suffer

Remember I'm a reporter not a columnist. However, yes, it is obviously wrong to break the law. A more interesting question to me, though, is 'Why do people break the law?'  (Apr 17, 2009 | post #97)
