The backlash over Gabby Douglas' hairdo

I for one am extremely appalled that the topic of Gabby's hairdo attempted to over shadow her tremendous accomplishment. However what really PISSSES me off is that all of this negativity came from women of color; black women. This just further irritates me that black people can be so cruel and ugly towards each other and this is one of the main reason that when that Dom Imus guy made his negative comments about sisters I didn't get upset with him. Why should we get mad at white people when we don't respect each other first? Don Imus was only replicating what he probably heard first from some ill respecting gangster rap song that is notorious for putting down black women and glorifying sub cultural living and behavior that keeps us under the foot of the oppressors. Before we try to clean up and chastise white folks for not treating us right; why don't we clean up and chastise ourselves and get our act together. How long will we continue to use "the man" as an excuse for all of the ills that plagues our neighborhoods? The comments that were made about Gabby's hairdo and by black women no less is unforgivable and you ought to be ashamed of yourselves. I swear I don't ever want to hear another black person complain about what white America is doing to Black folks when we can't even do right by ourselves, children, elders and community. And remember this is my opinion. Don't get angry get busy and do something positive: STOP THE NEGATIVITY!!!!1  (Aug 17, 2012 | post #1)

Man Shoots Self in Head while handcuffed in Police Car

I originally wanted to ask if anyone thought this was possible. Please click on the link to read the full story... I for one find it hard to believe that he was searched twice (2 times) and the police officers missed the gun... And then he was HANDCUFFED hands behind him and managed to get his gun from a safely hidden spot on his body and managed to point the gun to his head killing himself... things that make you go... Hmmmmm... http://arkansasmat nxd_id=573432& utm_source=twitter feed&utm_mediu m=twitter Summary: Police in Jonesboro say a 21-year-old suspect shot himself in the head while handcuffed in the back of a squad car. How Carter managed to shoot himself while handcuffed - using a concealed weapon police missed during not one - but two searches -- is a mystery to many, including the FBI who is looking at it. The chief says the two men with Carter, who were white, were released and left the scene before the shooting but Carter was held back after the officers - who are also white - discovered he'd given them a fake name and there was a warrant for his arrest in Mississippi, where he'd skipped out on a drug diversion program. The chief says his officers don't know exactly when the fatal shot was fired, even though they were just feet away. According to this incident report, one of the officers heard "A loud thump with a metallic sound but thought it came from a vehicle that ran over a piece of metal on the roadway."  (Aug 17, 2012 | post #1)

Should we bring back capital punishment?

Couldn't have said it better or more eloquently. Well done! ^_^  (Jun 15, 2012 | post #13)

Should we bring back capital punishment?

Nope, just bring back spanking and disciplining your children the old school way; then it won't be as much a need for capital punishment... We fail to realize that the the government tells us not to use capital punishment with our children; and it's that same government that has no problem punishing and taking our children away from us and then accusing us as being "bad parents"... I think we need to ask ourselves why is that? It's that way bc the government has no plans on hiring our children and are only removing them out of the job market making room for those of their choices... It's interesting to me how our government can invest all around the world, yet refuse to invest locally in its people. I don't mean in terms of government handouts; but the kinds of urban policies that would protect its people from the erosion of jobs and security. I'll stop here, because I probably could write an essay on this topic with my opinion... lololo  (Jun 14, 2012 | post #5)

Now is your time and you should enjoy life; sounds like you've paid your dues in terms of doing what you had to do by being a good mother to your children and handling your responsibilities. Enjoy your life regardless; I sincerely wish you all the best in finding that someone.... but a friend of mines always says: "you've got to kiss a lot of frogs b4 finding that Prince" So while you are looking for that Prince or until he stumbles upon you; find you something that interest you and makes you happy! I'm always hoping that men are sincerely looking for women that are happy and satisfied with themselves as people first and then see how they can compliment those women's lives. However, from what I have observed about men (this is my humble opinion and who says it's right... so please no haters and people taking offense)... from what I have observed about men, they seemed to be drawn to high maintenance, drama bearing, selfish, superficial, kinds of women... and I don't mean that in a bad way... I think people have a right to like what they like and shouldn't have to apologize or explain their personal choices. I just wish men (and women) would be honest with themselves and admit what they like (and for those who know that they don't fit the mold, quit pretending to be something that you're not).... Bottom line ask for what you want and don't settle for less and please don't be afraid to walk away when you're not getting what you want. Don't waste people's time when you know you are not in to win; just around with someone's feelings... And no I'm not a lonely, bitter, and hateful woman; I'm just a woman who has decided I can't do the merry-go-round any more and I want to be happy even if that means being by meyself.  (Jun 14, 2012 | post #26)

Why are men such lairs

At the end of the day I think everyone lies every now and then... Not saying it's right, but I don't think we can generalize and say all men lie... that's like saying all women nag and B****.  (Jun 12, 2012 | post #39)
