Ironically, it won't be the Lerner development. It will be Peterson. I guess where phase 2 was supposed to be, next to BJs Wholesale.  (Nov 19, 2014 | post #5261)

So now, I just wonder where Chuy's plans to open in Gainesville. Don't know if the area can support 2 chain tex-mex restaurants. Unless the WashPost article was wrong.  (Oct 21, 2014 | post #5237)

Yes, was delicious. Luckily had the black invite so 100% comped. The White invitation I guess was only 50%. Definitely a welcomed addition to G'ville. They were originally scheduled to open to the public today, but since they still haven't received their liqour license, grand opening won't be til Wednesday.  (Oct 20, 2014 | post #5235)

A tentative opening date for Firebirds is Oct 20th, according to their website. Subject to change of course. Looks like a few more tenants have signed on, no names though. Wish they would announce that other restaurant soon on Pad J. Kinda surprised how everything has slowed down there. Was really expecting Peterson to be on their game and get those spots filled.  (Sep 5, 2014 | post #5207)

Jersey Mikes opens August 13th. If you happened to get one of their 10000 coupons they distributed you can get a regular sub their opening week for a donation of $2 to a designated charity.  (Aug 8, 2014 | post #5202)

Looks like Haymarket Village Center might be building out there last spot next to Sakura Grill/Milkberry/Hand and Stone. They now have a Sleepys and a place called Urban Kitchen coming to spots 150 and 155, which don't currently exist. Urban Kitchen looks to possibly be another Asian style restaurant.  (Jul 10, 2014 | post #5198)

Not sure what people are disagreeing with about my previous post. Just posting what I saw at the store front to inform others. Looks like Stein Mart might be finally starting the work for a Gainesville store. The only strange thing to me is that is says new construction, site work and paving when I thought they were just going to be remodeling the old Linens and Things store. Now it sounds as if they will be building from scratch. I wonder if it will be over by The Promenade. https://www.bidcle rk.com/project/271 7677.html?orig=cba  (Jun 18, 2014 | post #5192)

So, it seems that Gainesville is finally getting what might be a decent tobacco shop. I realize there is the walk in humidor at the Gateway Citgo, but it is still limited in variety. The place is called Tobacco Hut at 14654 Lee Hwy, Gainesville, VA and hoping it has a cigar lounge. Not sure when it will open, but looking forward to something local, hope it doesn't disappoint.  (Jun 17, 2014 | post #5191)

Looks like Haymarket Village Center East finally leased their last remaining space to Interstate Battery Center. Good to have one of those in the area. Sometimes it is hard to find certain batteries in the regular store.  (Mar 21, 2014 | post #5142)

Well, it looks like Cooper's Hawk Winery, which was one of the restaurants thought to be coming to Gainesville is making their debut in Virginia, but looks like they went with a bigger market. Richmond. https://coopershaw kwinery.com/locati ons/virginia/richm ond-va-coming-soon .php  (Mar 7, 2014 | post #5122)

So, looks like Stein Mart is coming to the Virginia Gateway. I imagine in the spot where Linens and Things used to be.  (Feb 18, 2014 | post #5121)

New Springfield Town Center rumors

Here are a few more supposed tenants. Below, the latest: LA Fitness: The health club will include a basketball court and pool. Its entrance, adjacent to but separate from the mall, will be located next to Target, facing Loisdale Road. Regal Cinemas: It’s unclear how many screens the theater will have, but permits show that Regal is the tenant. Yard House: From Darden Restaurants (Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Capital Grille, Longhorn Steakhouse, et al), this Irvine, Calif.-based eatery and tap house features a glass-enclosed keg room that holds as much as 5,000 gallons of beer. Chuy’s: An Austin, Texas-based Tex-Mex chain. This restaurant's nearest outpost is currently in Richmond, Va. The Springfield location will include a covered patio. Sarku Japan: The self-described “largest and most successful Japanese quick-service restaurant operator in the United States.” also Bento Box Sushi, Michael Kors, Banana Republic, Williams-Sonoma and a Starbucks kiosk.  (Feb 5, 2014 | post #2)

Enjoyed a nice lunch at BJ's yesterday with some friends. There were 4 things on the menu to choose from, we had 3 out of the 4 offerings. Blackened Chicken Alfredo, very creamy and delicious, came with some thin and crispy garlic bread. Two people got the pork chop platter which came with 2 sides and a salad. The pork chops were done perfectly, not too overcooked but obviously not underdone with a side of mashed potatoes and green beans. The side salads were a good size and the dressings were tasty. One friend had the turkey burger and I didn't hear any complaints, came with a side of steak fries (large amount). They are also known for making their own soda, besides the beer. Had their seasonal strong Belgian called Grand Cru. Definitely see why it has won some awards. For dessert we had the Triple Chocolate Pizookie made with Ghirardelli. No words for it but will say not a crumb was left. So happy to have a place like this in Gainesville finally. I just hope they don't pull the same thing as Bar Louie and slack on service and quality after a few months. Going back to try their dinner menu on Friday.  (Jan 29, 2014 | post #5101)

Oh, alcoholic drinks and tip will be extra and BJ's Brewhouse is looking for donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation during this preview event.  (Jan 24, 2014 | post #5093)
