Still think Al's Pawn is good for Claycomo?

I recently posted a rather grainy and out of focus pix of Al's Pawn Shop sign on 69 HiWay. http://www.topix.n et/album/detail/cl aycomo-mo/VFBTAG3F 8V9RNH37 (I really like the image of the couple listening to their Edison player that is on there too.)  (Monday Jul 7 | post #85)

At TacoBell what is the mystery meat?

I still fancy a taco from Taco Bell once in a while. I'm sad to see that their street signage was damaged by the passing tornado of late.  (May 17, 2008 | post #14)

Bonfire in The Park

This promises to be quite an event! It will be held on Poe St. at Mildred Keeney Park from around 7 till 10 pm.I wonder if there will be a chance to roast frankfurters and marshmallows? If you see me there, don't hesitate to stop by and say hello and introduce yourself. I plan on bringing a ukelele and my pipe so you'll easily recognize me. Maybe you'll join me in a few old Harold Arlen or Nick Lucas tunes. Finally a chance to meet some new acquaintences in a carefree atmosphere, kudos to the Village for sponsoring this fine and festive gathering.  (May 17, 2008 | post #2)

Musical memories: Remembering KCs Cowtown Ballroom

I know they played Freedom Palace, but I don't recall them playing Cowtown. The ones I recall playing at Cowtown were: Flying Burrito Brothers Poco Hot Tuna Frank Zappa Kinky Friedman Mott The Hoople Alice Cooper Black Oak Arkansas Nitty Gritty Dirt Band Freddy King and that's about I all I remember, but there was many others. Do you remember the "astroturf " at the Freedom Palace? My favorite venue back then was Memorial Hall in K.C, KS. I recall seeing the Grateful Dead opening up for The Iron Butterfly in February, 1969 or '68. How about "The Place" in Westport (now occupied by Westport Flea Market)? Moby Grape and I think Jefferson Airplane played there and of course so did local favorites Mystic Number National Bank, KC Grits and Marshmallow Monorail.  (Mar 23, 2008 | post #3)

A fellow over at O'Neil Honda related to me that he may have worked at Northeast Sport Motors, which was owned by Frank Ancona, sometime in the mid to late 70's.  (Mar 19, 2008 | post #4)

Still think Al's Pawn is good for Claycomo?

I observed you two in the periodical section, I was the grizzled old curmudgeon seated at the computer station doing some research, forgive my stand offish behavior.  (Mar 19, 2008 | post #69)
