Lockdown lifted at Steele High School

For the rocket scientist that have it all figured out. If you think the doors to the schools should be locked contact the school and volunteer to watch one of the doors. Thank you to CPD and school administrators for getting the word out as quickly as you could. If folks had half of a clue what that takes vs. being self-absorbed it would make things different for sure. To those parents. Spend a little less time thinking about yourself and try to put yourself in the shoes of others. Some of the stuff on Facebook is borderline insane.  (Sep 17, 2013 | post #1)

Use of our Tax Dollars

Curious if anyone has wondered about this like I have? Recently had the chance to have someone show me around what used to be Brooks and Kelly AFB in San Antonio. This is what I think is going on but could be wrong but very curious what you think. Several years ago the US Govt signs over Brooks and Kelly AFB to the City of San Antonio to do whatever they wanted to do with them. For an area the City establishes the Port Authority to bring in businesses ect. which really sounds like an awesome idea. The city can lease the facilities to growing companies and make a profit from it. More to my point. After turning over the bases the US Govt. realizes that there is a shortfall in office space. The buildings on Brooks and Kelly are still vacant so it leases the same buildings back from the city. Can’t imaging that these leases are very cheap. Key, these are the same facilities that it turned over to the city. Troubling is that on top of paying for the lease the US Govt is now responsible for maintaining the facilities! If there is a loss of power, a door won’t open ect. federal employees respond and execute repairs. I don’t have all of the details but normally if a facility is leased from someone isn’t the agent that owns the facility responsible for ensuring that it is maintained? In this time of financial challenges this sure appears to be something that someone should take a hard look.  (Feb 9, 2013 | post #1)

Police Action are Amazing

A little weary of the anti-Schertz PD posts, I do need to confess to playing hide and seek in the mornings like the other folks on here. Was it really necessary for the patrol to cut off cars? This morning watched a patrol flip on the lights and pull a 180 turn, at speed, in the middle of 3009. My point of reference was moving south about 100 yards on the north of the patrol car when it made the Joey Chitwood Maneuver. As soon as I saw the lights I checked traffic on the opposite side to see who was traveling at 100 mph, dodging in an out of traffic, or wearing a mask after robbing the Schertz National Bank. Sadly I didn’t see anything so exciting and assumed that the patrol cut people off due to the routine accident on 35 or someone had driven away from Taco Cabana without paying for a breakfast taco. Nope, watching the patrol go to the speed of light watched it pursue a mustang onto a side street. Does the city really need the proceeds from a traffic ticket to place other driver’s at risk? How about spending some time at the intersection of 3009 and 78 monitoring the new left turn option where people just do what they want when they want. Sort of scary. PROTECTION. SERVICE. How About Them Cowboys?

Watching the game and just can't help but toss it out there… Much like the NY Yankee baseball team, the Cowboys can overcome anything with enough money. I won't use the “Cowgirl” term as folks get all emotional when it's used and we should never bring up the issues surrounding Romo and how awesome he is. Again, folks get all emotional. So how about some fun banter....  (Oct 14, 2012 | post #1)

FM 78 and 3009 Intersection and New Turn Lane

Ok to the point of begging at this point. Almost hit this afternoon and have witnessed dozens of issues over the past several weeks. Sent a request to the state but they are satisfied with the sinage. For goodness sakes would placing more signs be that much of an issue? People obviously have no idea when the second turn lane is active as they are turning at all times of the day. How about having one of our finest available to monitor what is going on vs. searching for the criminals speeding to work at 0500? Yes I recognize the threat for those speeding at that time in the morning with all of the kids and school busses out and about… Seriously, the concept is fantastic but folks obviously don’t understand when the left turn lane is active.  (Oct 3, 2012 | post #4)

FM 78 and 3009 Intersection and New Turn Lane

Howdy Does anybody else think "they" need to install a sign on the east bound side of FM 78 prior to the FM 3009 intersection now that they have installed the new left turn signal? The new signal and left turn from the 2nd lane isn't in effect until after 3:30 pm. The mobile sign was active with the notice for about a week but now people are turning left from the center lane all the time. Can't even count how many close calls I've seen and just fortunate someone hasn't been hurt. At least I'm not aware of anyone getting hurt. I'm sure vehicles have been damaged. Only second to the bridge that goes over the railroad tracks on 3009 this turn signal is the best idea seen in a very long time. But wow a sign or two would sure help things.  (May 10, 2012 | post #1)

selma police

Perfect example of what is wrong with society today. Speaking poorly about unscrupulous public servants doing inappropriate things or hassling people because they are now the big boys/girls on campus (with a badge and gun) is one thing. Or, giving tickets at 5 in the morning. Making what sounds like a threat is something else.  (May 10, 2012 | post #9)
