STOVALL DUMPED from Press & Sun-Bulletin

Ah - when I said what I wrote last year it was in reference to my post saying that I thought there would be LESS local reporting in general... where as instead it seems they / PSB have instead increased reporting in some areas... in particular stories concerning local political types and them not just focusing on fluff pieces... As for now being on the forum... I've actually been around but all the **** that the topix site loads was just too much a pain in the butt... especially since I was travelling and going through a wireless network. The end result was that I could often read the threads but trying to reply to anything was problematic. Right now I am back at home though - at least until I start the next consulting gig.  (Apr 24, 2014 | post #30)

Agreed.. which actually surprises me i.e. my post last year concerning what I thought was going to happen as a result. Having said that... It's also been interesting to watch the genesis of dissent with local representatives / politicos such as Rich David, Preston and Datta.. where a year or so ago - we were getting regaled with talk about how they were going to change things so much and so quickly... but now even their supporters are often doing a big ole wtf as they come to the realization that while it's different names and a different political party - it's still business as usual in area.  (Apr 23, 2014 | post #28)

Will Rich David Reward Garo K, and Tony Massar?

No idea but the truth is that I don't think it matters... The reality is that there are enough examples of his atrocious behavior spread across the years and various Internet sites / forums... with a lot of it cached forever and ever and ever e.g. using Google and other search engines you can still call up copies of the threads you're referencing... that simple searches will always expose the real Ed Arzouian... Even if that weren't the case... His reputation in the area is already know / he has trashed it all by himself... heck - I relayed part of a conversation I had with some local GOP folks last year... about how they were afraid he would "volunteer " with their campaigns and as he has been known to do - disrupt things or even directly damage their bid for office... So I'm still going with... If he is "rewarded " for his atrocious behavior... it probably will be simply to appease him and try to shuffle him off to a corner where he can't do any harm... that is to say - some meaningless title with no real power or authority over anything...  (Nov 14, 2013 | post #10)

Just off the top of my head i.e. I don't have the election result pdfs handy but... I think it was something like 4100 total votes with 781 not voting... I guess if didn't count the none of the above / non-votes then maybe he hit the low 40 somethings ? Even if you do that though - it's still 100% suckage for a position that was supposed to be locked in for whatever / any person the GOP put forth against Moran...  (Nov 13, 2013 | post #8)

Uh... he got 30-some percent of the vote against a guy that Arzouian himself stated: "has not really campaigned and met voters, nor advertised, not offered any information about himself, doesn't have a web site, has very few signs out and has lost twice running for Town of Dickinson Supervisor, lost twice for highway superintendent and once as Town Councilman, all in the last 12 years" Not something for him to be proud of and I would dare say that a person could get that percentage of votes simply thanks to those folks that will always vote for their political party... no matter how atrocious their candidate may be... As for why he wasn't deterred from running by the local GOP... my understanding is that there was no one else that wanted to run and they didn't want to leave Moran uncontested - especially since it was supposed to be an easy to win race for them no matter who was running - as long as there was someone / anyone running on the GOP ticketWell if that were true... Seeing as the incoming Mayor would almost have to be aware of Arzouian's arrest for harassment... cocaine... gun violation... and the resulting plea bargain on good behavior and no contact orders... his misrepresentation of his work history i.e. forgetting to mention he was fired from several of those jobs he lists on his bio... his delusions that there are conspiracies against him... and so forth... If that's the kind of guy you folks just elected... someone that would ignore such things and invite such a person into a position in your local government - then Binghamton NY is royally screwed...  (Nov 13, 2013 | post #6)

Anyone that does a search using the keywords Arzouian and arrest are going to get treated to that ( arrest ) information... and stuff like copies of the legal documents where he tried to get a modification to his sentence etc. are still available / visible online... That's not even mentioning that everyone will being able to see a nice long list of Internet sites that he has been banned from due to his online behavior... and such gems as him self implosion due to missing a plane flight... So I don't think the incoming Mayor / anyone is so insane as to place a person such as Arzouian in any position of power... though maybe a meaningless title with no actual authority as a thank you for helping to spam the area forums with all the nonsense we saw - I guess that could be a possibility... ?!  (Nov 13, 2013 | post #4)

Moratorium Needed On Copper Scrap Buying

I already mentioned how a pair of local copper thieves here in Elmira were caught... but for those that have been rounded up in the Binghamton area - and there have been some... How did the police track them down i.e. ... Did they catch them in the act... did they get turned in by larger scrap buyers when they tried to sell the copper / scrap... or something else ?  (Nov 12, 2013 | post #7)

Moratorium Needed On Copper Scrap Buying

Uh... I just replaced the old / deteriorating copper plumbing in one of my houses with a PEX system... and why yes - I took the old pipes down and sold them for scrap... and I did sign off on a sheet with my name and address... I think the problem is more with the places that do the no questions asked routine... because those are the ones that the thieves use to unload copper etc. they have stolen... Btw... We've recently had a spat of copper thefts here in Elmira also... luckily the thieves have been pretty darn stupid... for example one pair of morons stripped the plumbing out of a house and not wanting to take it home before selling it... they stashed it behind a local 7-11... which was noticed right away... and the PD parked an unmarked car / officer to sit there and herd them in when they returned... I know that doesn't help the person that had their property damaged by those idiots... but at least they're off the street now and as I understand it - facing felony level charges...  (Nov 11, 2013 | post #3)

Comptroller: Former Binghamton parks director allegedly s...

It looks like our OP's drug and alcohol induced memory loss has returned with a vengeance - either that or he is simply off his meds again... at least he hasn't been arrested again for his antics - or has he ?! Anyway and since he started yet another of these threads of his and as a reminder to those who missed the earlier iterations... a) The OP seems to forget that the treatment plant collapsed due to the faulty design and construction done under the prior administration... faulty design and construction that it was discovered would have required the tear down and reconstruction of the phase 3 segment anyway... to the tune of 10's of millions of dollars i.e. I believe I OP pegs it at 60 million or so... b) It was the prior administration that defaulted on the Regency and dropped it in the current administration's lap... and other users have already previously linked documents and news stories outlining the situation including how the prior administration actually tried to "sell" the place under the table to political friends... c) While our OP and similar might find the concept of a round-about confusing - though I would think they would like such things considering their own circular arguments... the reality is that the section of road(s) in question had been neglected for years and were in dire need of repair... given the choice of having the city pay to repave / repair everything on the local tax payer's dime or using the DOT plan and funds i.e. for the round-about... the administration chose the latter... so I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree i.e. I think that was the best route while the OP thinks it would have been best if the citizens of Binghamton had footed the entire bill themselves... d) Whalen was caught by the current administration but it seems that he had been stealing for years... unfortunately the prior administration's record keeping was so bad i.e. even worse than the current one's - that they couldn't definitively prove it and bring charges against him for that other money... Either way I am appalled that the OP seems to think that the theft of more than $100K is a "mere pittance"... Last but certainly not least... No one is or has said that the current administration has done everything right... and most of us agree that there are definitely things they could have done much better... but I and dare I say most other sane people find the OP's fixation on Ryan and attempts to re-write history to be disturbing to say the least...  (Oct 5, 2013 | post #3)

Checking the weather outside... temperature here is now 58 F at 12:30 PM... I predict it will be 58 degrees at 12:30 PM... Look everyone - I PREDICTED IT... aren't I wonderful ! lol !!! If you don't get it Arzouian... That's the equivalent of what you are doing... i.e. Gannett had announced ages ago that they were consolidating staff and that there would be a single executive editor over the PSB, Ithaca Journal and Star Gazette... and the discussions were that at best the current individual editors would be seeing demotions or being laid off... On a positive note... At least we aren't having to suffer through your fixation on Stovall's race like you used to do with your derogatory posts on Gannett's forums... so thank you for that...  (Sep 23, 2013 | post #13)

Sherriff Harder's Violation

Wow... I mean I'm not sure what kind of response is appropriate when responding to a person trying to justify an adult having sex with an 8th / 9th grade kid... other than to say that I hope you do not have a job where you interact with or live in a house that is in close proximity to children e.g. near a school...  (Sep 19, 2013 | post #2)

The transience of our lives may make true perfection appear unattainable... but to me that is all the more reason to try and strive for it.

I Believe In:

A quote from Tolkien that I would like to imagine people will one day view our area and towns... "In his time the City was made more fair than it had ever been, even in the days of its first glory; and it was filled with trees and with fountains, and its gates were wrought of mithril and steel, and its streets were paved with white marble; and the Folk of the Mountain laboured in it, and the Folk of the Wood rejoiced to come there; and all was healed and made good, and the houses were filled with men and women and the laughter of children, and no window was blind nor any courtyard empty; and after the ending of the Third Age of the world into the new age it preserved the memory and the glory of the years that were gone".
