Kids deserve better

Also... the fact remains is that the entire city will not sweep an 8ft. section of road in front of their house/business every other week.  (Sep 21, 2010 | post #9)

Barbara, The main benefit of the street sweepers is keeping debris and junk out of the storm drains. there is a very good possibility that it is cheaper to run the sweeper than it is to pay crews to respond to flooding drains. I believe you are incorrect about the sweepers damaging the roads. Perhaps you would like to volunteer to do a Cost-Benefit Analysis to get a more detailed view of the situation?  (Sep 21, 2010 | post #8)

Or Moschetti could pay for space like the other vendors had to... Is there a reason Moshetti should be allowed to participate for free?  (Apr 20, 2010 | post #3)

An activity answer

GMB is too busy posting on other topics he knows nothing about. It's the nature of a blowhard to spout off a bunch of nonsense, and then just drift away when they are called out on their stupidity. My earlier post was diplomatic in an effort to reach out to him. But realistically he has no intention of getting to know the program or participants. And will continue writing posts based on his stereotypes and limited view of the world. If you do a little searching, you'll see he has been posting quite a bit, and will not return to this topic. GMB does not really deserve any respect here  (Feb 24, 2010 | post #12)

gun metal blue, It's clear you do not know anything about this program. I would like to invite you to the next fund-raiser the school organizes. The ticket is on me, and this will give you the opportunity to meet the parents of the kids that you claim "are not capable of raising a rat". This will also give me the opportunity to hear your ideas on: "how to get along with others that the parents can not teach as they themselves never learned how themselves." As you put it. To make that statement you must have some specific ideas on how to accomplish this, and I would be very interested to hear them. In most of your posts throughout the year, you refer to kids on the street as "hood rats", so I think you're looking at the school with some preconceived opinions. I don't recall reading any actionable solutions to the problems you mention, but I will assume for now that you are more than just talk. My offer to you is an opportunity, at no cost to you, to see firsthand everyone involved and dinner. "Criticism is necessary and useful; it is often indispensable; but it can never take the place of action, or be even a poor substitute for it. The function of the mere critic is of very subordinate usefulness. It is the doer of deeds who actually counts in the battle for life, and not the man who looks on and says how the fight ought to be fought, without himself sharing the stress and the danger." Mayor's 'gay sin' remarks ignite protest

Sherrie Connelly, Exactly. No matter what it is, people like to think there is some big secret agency funding the thing they don't like. Ask them where is the money coming from and you always get a lame, "Weelll, I don't really know..."  (Dec 6, 2009 | post #152)

Apologies in order

Michael Biddle, You calling this "political correctness garbage" only brings your ignorance to light. Mr. Davis' comments, put in context, are even worse. History will not treat Mr. Davis, the Vallejo Faith Community, or you well.  (Dec 6, 2009 | post #35)

Everybody likes to should "Hold them accountable!! " What they really mean is "punish" , right? And you can only punish if someone has broken the law. So can we stop screaming for "accountabili ty". If that is what you want, then keep a full-time salaried City Manager in place because that person will lose their professional reputation and livelihood if their decisions are not sound.  (Oct 16, 2009 | post #6)
