I took a look at the Herkimer County real estate site. There are no properties in LF owned by Mr. Weakley... or Weakly. Perhaps in another name.? He does own three properties in other towns... in the name Bruce Weakley... But none in LF.  (Dec 21, 2016 | post #60)

That ranks up there with one of the most mean-spirited, ugly comments I've read on Topix. Obviously... a Trump supporter.  (Jul 30, 2016 | post #44)

Benchmarking New York

Although it is a bit dated... This table tells it all. The far right hand column, LF tax rate 27.67. That is EQUAL to all the other values in the column. Meaning... 27.67 per thousand of assessed... in LF... Is equal to, as an example, $5.50 per thousand in the Town of Webb. BOTH create the same pain relative to the full value of the real estate. urdumm... is 100% spot-on... listen to her. http://herkimercou nty.org/content/Do cuments/File/3731. pdf  (Jun 14, 2016 | post #8)

Brand New Trash Truck...... Yay!!

From the LF Times: "The cost: A contract for waste removal with Spohn Disposal Service in 2009 cost the city $444,000, according to David Petkovsek, city treasurer." "For personnel, bond payments and miscellaneous costs, Petkovsek is estimating the city will pay between $315,000 to $320,000 to do the job itself." "And the city in 2011 will begin making annual payments, of between $60,000 to $62,000, on a five-year loan for the trucks, Petkovsek said." "City officials have also estimated the plan will include $2,000 for maintenance, $20,000 for fuel, $20,000 for containers, $10,000 for miscellaneous expenses and $130,000 for tipping fees." "The city will also use six part-time employees to do the garbage collection, with three working 20 hours a week at $13.18 an hour. The estimated personnel cost, including Social Security and workersÂ’ compensation payments, comes to $60,000 annually, Petkovsek said."  (Jun 10, 2016 | post #28)

Young people for Bernie Sanders

Bernie, to me, is a reasonable man. With reasonable ideas. Does it mean I may pay more in taxes... perhaps. There ain't no free lunches. Some things are worth the cost. I'm back... deal with it.  (Apr 22, 2016 | post #12)

Golf course

The basic idea of the golf course... Is to protect the area immediately UPSTREAM from the reservoirs. Yes... the city could just do nothing with the area. But some wise-guy along the way thought... HEY... What if we did something which improved the quality of life? What if we did something which promoted physical activity? I think... free golf lessons... and leagues. I think... improve the course... put in a trap! just one!  (Apr 22, 2016 | post #6)

Little Falls airport

I've owned two airplanes... And I've flown into the Little Falls area... It really bothered me that the closest I could get to LF... was about 30 miles away. THEN... When I learned that LF had an airport in the 1930s and 1940s... And that LF had refused an opportunity in the 1970s to have a new airport... I was perplexed. What... EXACTLY.. is LF willing to do to make itself attractive to corporate investment? I think the answer is... nothing.  (Apr 22, 2016 | post #24)

Little Falls airport

It would be my GUESS... Folks that own airplanes pick other places to live. Places that are conveniently located near an airport. Companies which use small jets to carry their executives... Pick communities with airports for development. An airport would hopefully attract people to Little Falls... that currently aren't attracted to Little Falls.  (Apr 22, 2016 | post #21)

Little Falls airport

Years ago... [1970s] there was a plan to build a paved Little Falls airport. Most of the original costs would have been Federal and State monies. It would have been in the Gun Club Road area. As I remember... a group of locals protested the necessary maintenance costs from such a gift.  (Apr 21, 2016 | post #14)
