This is so disturbing. Either 1. he's done it before and this girl got very lucky or 2. he'll get out and do it again. WHY do we let people like this out of jail?! (May 27, 2011 | post #20)
So it's OK to misuse public money for fishing trips and trips to Disneyland, double dip on pension/salary, and use public funds to get rid of political opponents? I get that the guy has a personal interest in immigration, but is it really OK to let violent offenders (citizen or not) go so you can catch mom and dad sneaking over the border? Would you rather have them here working at McDonalds, or a violent child molester roaming around because Sherrif was too busy? I like some of his jail ideas, the TVs and the pink uniforms, making the inmates WORK. But the fact that he has his employees focus on petty crime and ignore warrant lists that include MURDERERS really bothers me. This man is a zealot, and zealots in any shape, form, or issue are a dangerious thing. (Apr 15, 2011 | post #6)
Quick history lesson: The US funded that war. We helped drag that war out. We helped get that war going. And then when "our" side was obviously losing, we pulled out and because it wasn't safe for the Somali citizens on "our" side to stay there, we let them come here. Oh, and FYI, people felt the same exact way about Irish, Italians, and Chinese when they began immigrating here. (Feb 7, 2011 | post #23)
Just so it doesn't get taken the wrong way, I'm familiar with the mold laws because I was the TENANT, not the landlord. It absolutly infuriated me that I was expected to live in it. I had to find another way out of my lease, the water seeping in for months is what got me out, not the mold. (Jan 18, 2011 | post #94)
Imagine that: Someone from Detroit coming to MN is a CRIMINAL! NO WAY! Detroit, Gary, Chicago, and quite a few other MW cities circulate pictures of wanted criminals to Minneapolis/St Paul. We are like a magnet for their garbage. (Jan 12, 2011 | post #5)
I know everyone would just LOVE if this guy ended up having some Republican or Tea Party connection, but he won't. He was just a total nut job, who picked a politician and probably didn't even think about which party she belonged too. I don't even LIKE Sarah Palin, but to say that her "crosshairs " remark or internet posting had anything remotly to do with this just sounds stupid. But if anything good comes of this maybe it will be that the over the top nasty politics we've seen lately will calm down. I'm sick of it. I think a lot of people are sick of it. And it comes from both sides. (Jan 10, 2011 | post #10)
But I also fail to see how questioning someone's birthplace, when it regards qualifications for a job, makes someone a "racist bigot". I haven't read anything anywhere saying that this Dr. has expressed any racist or bigoted views in regards to Obama. Stop trying to come back with the race card, or you look just as stupid as this Dr. (Dec 17, 2010 | post #12)
You don't have to be BORN IN THE USA to be qualified to be president, you have to be BORN A US CITIZEN. If your mom is a US Citizen and you're born in CHINA, your still a US Citizen. You can still be president. Even the most die hard republicans I know think the birthers are a little goofy. Presenting his birth certificate is how the white house addressed the issue. Get over it. Regardless, the army IS NOT A DEMOCRACY. YOU DO NOT get to question anyone above you. You do what your told,w hen your told to do it. This guy though he'd become a hero, and picked the wrong place to do it. Tha army is also all about making an example of the first idiot to try and play politics with deployment orders. I'm suprised they didn't give him 10 years. (Dec 17, 2010 | post #11)
FYI, Hispanics are Americans too, and since I've been to the store, I know exactly what your referring to. Do you even know the definition of "legal resident"? Means an immigrant, who may or may not speak English. Stop trying to stir the pot and turn it into an immigration debate. (Dec 15, 2010 | post #47)
I decided a long time ago to send my donations to Goodwill or the Salvation Army, who at least put the funds to good use. Unique (and all of it's branches throughout the metro) is overpriced and is basically a "donate for profit". People donate, the owners make a profit. One day I went in there after donating, and it REALLY irked me to see so many items priced above retail, and toys that wern't even safe for sale (battery compartment ripped apart?!)
