I'm sure eventually we'll get our act together. :D (May 8, 2013 | post #50)
Actually breaking the trend is pretty simple. All you have to do is fix the public education system. Obviously that'd be a job for our politicians who currently all suck balls. (May 7, 2013 | post #48)
That's the case in America. The people who get drunk and party all the time are the ones who wind up with kids, while the more intelligent and cautious individuals wait until they feel prepared to worry about kids. So the drunken idiots and the druggies are reproducing at a much much faster rate. We aren't exactly doomed, all we have to do is turn the trend around and actually get people to use their brains for a change. 0.o (May 7, 2013 | post #46)
Evolution is geared through 'Natural Selection' which just means whomever is most fit survive will get to pass on their genetic information and traits. Unfortunately, in America that process is guided by who can get the most wasted. That's what drives our procreation and as a result the stupidity and alcoholic genes are the one getting passed on most frequently. (May 7, 2013 | post #44)
It's not really a belief matter anymore is what I'm trying to say. Evolution is fact. America is one of the only countries in the world that doesn't seem to understand that. 20 years ago maybe it was up for debate, but at this point we have the fossil records, we have human chromosome #2, we have everything we need to verify that evolution is the way things happened. (May 7, 2013 | post #43)
Evolution has been strongly tested, is highly supported, and backed by more than an ample amount of evidence. It's a fact. :D (May 6, 2013 | post #36)
Yes and no. Yes - I think we started randomly and without purpose no - I don't think we are without purpose. I think we decide our own fates, our own way, and our own purpose. Along the way we add purpose to other things and people. (May 6, 2013 | post #35)
Maybe, maybe not. I disagree. I think there is no reason for anything, but humans are unique. We have the mental ability to take something without meaning and ascribe a purpose to it, as well as ourselves. So while there is not necessarily a reason for things, we as humans tend to give things a purpose. (May 6, 2013 | post #32)
Nice offer, but the last thing I need is time alone to dwell on myself. That's how I spent most of my nights during the winter season, and when I evaluate my existence the results tend to wind up less than favorable. :) Now a days I try to redirect my overbearing thoughts towards amusing ideals. The last one being me laying in bed at night trying to sleep while my brain evaluated Capitalism and offered up solutions to modify and enhance that particular system. Obviously, I can't change Capitalism, but it's nice to have an idea on how it could be improved :D (May 6, 2013 | post #27)
My mind does plenty of wandering on its own. Actually it's rather constantly running around in circles. One of the drawbacks of being intelligent is that you can't really turn your brain off. It picks up ideas and runs with them non stop :D (May 6, 2013 | post #25)
I can't say I believe in any sort of higher power. I think the idea is a little absurd myself. Maybe it's possible, however, it seem very unlikely. Yes, if humans are all there is in the universe I also feel quite concerned. We're a rather pathetic race honestly. Not even really all that intelligent. Most of us are barely a step above a basic animal anymore. (May 5, 2013 | post #21)
That show is ridiculous, and not even kind of educational. Yes, aliens more than likely exist. No, aliens didn't fly around shooting dinsaurs from UFO's. (May 3, 2013 | post #7)
Statistics are an interesting thing, that's for sure. A minimum wage job is not better than welfare. I personally hate welfare, I don't want free money. The idea is disturbing to me ( then again I also hate money in general ). The truth of the matter is that those people on welfare have more food, nicer things, and a generally better lifestyle than someone working for minimum wage. I don't know many of the people employed with me who have iphones, but almost every person using welfare has one -.-' Corporate welfare is also rather disturbing to me though. I don't like companies with billions of dollars getting billions of more dollars for no reason... I'm just waiting though. I figure at some point greed and corruption will become so bad that it'll collapse everything, and hopefully when that happens will come up with something better than money. We should really work on getting rid of greed. It's one of the most evil things in this world, along side power lust. (May 3, 2013 | post #15235)
