My typing was really off in that last post! ;-) That would be "work" and "dead zone."  (Oct 14, 2009 | post #3)

Rarely does a cell phone wok in Belington. It is truly a "read zone." We are getting a tower (which is nearly done) and I understand it will be verizon.  (Oct 14, 2009 | post #2)

Philippi Police

Sorry for the misinformation. That last post was about belington, not Philippi. But, yes, Philippi did hire some new policemen. Three, I think.  (Oct 3, 2009 | post #5)

Yes, Belington hired TWO officers. Jeff Roy, with plenty of experience and certified, as chief; and a new local who will be going to the accademy in Janurary. Things are looking up in Belington!  (Oct 3, 2009 | post #4)

Barbour County Fair

The fair grounds are south of Philippi on Rt 250. You can't miss them. Lots of good eats. Don't know about those seats, since I wasn't aware that they had "reserved " seats.  (Aug 24, 2009 | post #2)

DNR seeks input on early doe seasons

Leah from Clarksburg: We too had many similar experiences with beer drinking hunters hunting on our land without permission, mistreating the game and our property, leaving maimed or half bodies of deer, etc. These kinds of "hunters " give a bad rap to hunters in general who are serious about the sport and do need the meat. If any hunter does not want the deer they kill, all they have to do is take it to a processor who will work it up and donate it to someone who wants and needs the meat. Yes, the herd needs to be thinned to protect peoples gardens, yards, bird feeders and flowers as well as cut down on traffic accidents involving deer; but the non-serious hunters need to be controled also.  (Aug 18, 2009 | post #41)

Yes, we did. Plus another new full time officer. But the "press" doesn't seem interested in reporting it.  (Aug 10, 2009 | post #4)

Why is it BIG news when a police chief is fired, but not "newsworthy " when a police chief AND another full time officer is hired?  (Aug 7, 2009 | post #1)
