Trees Cut Down Downtown?

Thanks for the input on the trees. Why brick sidewalks, and why a "tree board"? Shouldn't those who own the buildings make their own choices, or is this again, another "you must" situation?  (Aug 30, 2013 | post #13)

The El Dorado Feral Chicken

There's a good idea - help El Dorado by having the Mexicans gather all the feral chickens, and the Vietnamese gather all the dogs and cats that are loose. Save the city money instead of having to pay that bug guy to catch them.  (Aug 27, 2013 | post #12)

Union kennel and farm

Great! Now I suppose we can get our pets tatooed while we wait, and wait, and wait, if they're like Eppinetts was.  (Aug 27, 2013 | post #5)

Parker's Chapel or EHS

El Dorado Promise is why I would choose EHS over PC. I live in PC, now have 2 grands going to college after EHS. Only one son graduated PC. EHS has more to offer. Like any school, there's always the junk and drugs. But EHS is my choice.  (Aug 27, 2013 | post #21)

Landlords - Which are the best in El Dorado?

Looking for a decent house in a decent neighborhood to rent for under $400 a month. It's hard to make ends meet when you only have about a $1000 to live on a month, pay rent, utilities, buy food, etc. The people who help with the rent don't seem interested in helping a white person. Tried Ed Midyett, won't rent from him anymore. Hanna was too high. Anyone somebody can recommend? I have a small dog and cat, both house broken. Don't mind living in a trailer house if it's decent. Don't want no junk.  (Aug 27, 2013 | post #1)

SimmonsFirst Bank in El Dorado

There are some very nice people at Simmonsfirst and out at their branches, but then there are those who could care less about you or any customer and they seem to RULE!  (Aug 27, 2013 | post #6)

SimmonsFirst Bank in El Dorado

Easily the worst bank I have ever dealt with. For many years we used NBC and then Simmons came and it still wasn't too bad. Then the last President left and went to another local bank, and everything has went to the dogs! The word at car dealers is that Simmons will only finance 70% of car loans regardless of your credit. After buying several vehicles with Simmons financing, we decided to buy another car. Simmons said they would finance it, but I would have to pay 10%, and within 5 minutes called me back and said, no, 20%. Hmmm, didn't even act like they wanted to do that, very rude, and with our credit ratings in the 700+ range, we went to Southern BanCorp and they financed the whole thing at a lower rate than Simmons. The latest vehicle I bought, went to Southern, forget Simmons. Made the mistake of taking a small loan with Simmons, with our 5K CD as collateral, they charged us over 10%. What a ripoff. When they financed a hearing aid through a local hearing place, it was 22%! I've already pulled some of my accounts, and thinking seriously off pulling our big accounts. They're jerks, and don't care about their clients, no matter what they advertise.  (Aug 26, 2013 | post #1)

Vikon Farms to open facility in Arkadelphia, add 172 jobs

I found it interesting that the news article in the paper omitted WHO Vikon Farms sells their chickens to. Several years ago an executive of Vikon stopped at my place and gave me his business card. He told me he was looking for chicken growers who would be willing to raise their chickens in such a way to meet the dietary requirements of the Muslim community. Of course, it wasn't mentioned, now that they plan on opening a plant over in Arkadelphia. Do we want to provide Muslims with chickens? It also bothers me that local restaurants sell "casa" fish at their restaurants. Case is an Asian catfish, mostly from Communist Vietnam, our enemies who killed so many of our men. So, Vikon, where are those chickens going? Are they going to people who want to destroy Christianity and the Jewish people?  (Aug 25, 2013 | post #1)

What's The Most Affordable Internet/Phone/TV Service?

Bought a Roku at Wally World, operates on my internet, almost don't watch cable any more. Hundreds of channels to watch on Roku, we do subscribe to Netflix, $7.99 a month, but lots of movies, news, all kind of things cable doesn't offer. I believe that soon other cable companies will offer their channels on Roku, like Time-Warner Cable does. The high price for the cable is wasted, since we only watch 4 or 5 channels, at most. Lots of music on Roku, and games.  (Aug 25, 2013 | post #14)
