Trumpeterny taking some time off

Hi everyone. I just wanted to say that I will be taking some time off from editing. I am not leaving the site altogether and will edit some once in a while, but I am tired from editing everyday like I have been and just need a break for a while. Thank you for understanding - keep the Malone Topix page going. I think we've done some good things here and have more still to do.  (Dec 28, 2008 | post #1)

School Vote Thursday

Just a few facts in regards to the vote: 1. The current bus garage is not nearly big enough for the buses housed there. The heat in the break room there for the drivers does not work properly leaving the room cold and drafty, on top of not being properly sealed - wind literally blows leaves under the door into the drivers room. The transportation office is far too small. The building on top of that is just in poor condition overall. 2. The only school with potential for physical growth is the Middle School. None of the other schools in the district have any more room to build on to the current buildings. 3. St. Joe's is extremely unsafe. Lighting in the halls is very dim. The decor has not changed since the district bought the building. There are literally 17 different levels in the building, making handicap accessibility impossible, as well as the possibility of an elevator. The roof is in terrible condition. The school is far outdated and has not moved well into the 21st century. 4. Flanders as well has not moved into the 21st Century and needs some help. 5. FA has no more room for athletic or parking growth and the current bus garage land is the last frontier for possible growth there. Just some facts to chew on.  (Dec 3, 2008 | post #6)

New Discussion Board and News site for Christian Country

I am a moderator for a new Christian Country discussion board for Christian Country and Country Gospel music. I just wanted everyone to know that there is now a place where CC artists and fans alike can talk about the Christian Country ministry. The site also posts news and updates as well as album reviews and links to every major artist's site in CC. Concert dates for many artists are found on the site as well. The site can be found at http://www.dynamit echristiancountry. com  (Nov 12, 2008 | post #1)

In response to the post regarding relevance of the stories posted on Topix, I completely agree with Citizen's Voice. I agree that a lot of the news going up here is negative, and I would love to share the positive news. I too find rewriting Telegram stories painful and long. We are not paid to do what we do, so we are working with limited resources. Since I would love to post more stories, I would encourage you to post some sources we can get news off of other than what we currently use, which is listed below. If you have further suggestions that you don't want shated with the public, you can email me (found in my profile) and I promise I will keep everything confidential. Thank you for your participation and help with Topix - it is because of all of you that care about our community that we have made this Malone page what it is. Current sources that I check everyday: Watertown Daily Times Press Republican Adirondack Daily Enterprise WPTZ WCAX News 10 Now Multiple Syracuse papers VisitMalone.com AliceHyde.com as well as others on a random basis  (Nov 11, 2008 | post #1)

A Wisconsin sex offender arrested locally

The sex offender registry lists him as having contact in WI with a 5 year old girl, just for your info. Not trying to side with the PR, but the registry does list a 5 year old.  (Oct 26, 2008 | post #3)

Putting local news on the map

Is there any way to put tags on my news stories so that they will appear on the local map for my Topix pages? All that shows up are the pictures. I would really like to put the news and events on the map as well. Thank you for your help.  (Oct 8, 2008 | post #1)

Attacks on contributing members

I just wanted everyone to know that I will continue to do the same thing that I have always done on the Malone Topix page, just to keep consistency on here. I believe that we can make this page what it once was and even better. I just wanted to let you know that you have my word that I will stick out this "downturn " of events on the Malone and area Topix pages. If you have suggestions as to how to regain some positive feedback and build up the reader base again, please let me know. I miss the way things used to be here too... Thanks!  (Sep 25, 2008 | post #18)

Attacks on contributing members

Malone and area Topix readers, Recently I have noticed a trend in many key contributors to this site leaving due to personal attacks or rude remarks. I think that it is important that everyone has a chance to say what they want to say in a polite way. Friendly disagreement is more than welcome, but bashing or directing harsh argumentative comments at other members I don't stand for. I would encourage you all to please continue to post many comments here, but please make sure to remain open to other's opinions whether you agree or not. You don't have to agree, you just have to accept that they see things differently than you might. I would love to see all of the members who left come back, as they had unique viewpoints and a large heart for this area, as I know all of you do too. Thank you, Trumpeterny  (Sep 20, 2008 | post #1)
